Young people were already struggling thanks to the economy that Boomers created. Ignorant Boomers have acted selfishly and without regard to the future, fucking over younger adults. Given that boomers are like 15x more likely to die than those under 40, all this social distancing (which is putting a lot of millennials out of work) benefits them more than us.
So why shouldn't young people demand something in return? We want universal healthcare. We want action on global warming. We want universal basic income. We want to go back to the 40-hour workweeks that boomers got to enjoy, with paid sick leave and vacation too. We want job security. We want weekends off without our boss demanding we respond to a dozen bullshit emails.
Boomers are the ones who need this social distancing and economic shutdown, not us. I say young people should demand some concessions in return, otherwise we should just go out and party like normal, and coof wherever we want to coof. That's how the free market works: Quid pro quo. Boomers need to offer something to us otherwise it's no deal.

Even with the support of huge numbers lf people, still eventually any leader is "the unworthy" simply because leadership always produces an intangible, and only a minority of humanity can properly value intangibles.
