In fact let me tell you outright, I've seen what alcohol and tobacco did to my friend's father, and my father, and I don't want anything to do with that.

My addiction to league of legends literaly made me waste 2 years of my life, as I was in a completely fucked mental state and dropped 2 years of college, and then spend another to earn enough for tuition.

Addiction of any kind will quickly leave you a husk of a person, and I have literal gaps in my memory over the 10 years I've played since release. I've missed out on things every teenager and young adult should experience, and there's no way of getting that back. I've learned to live with my mistake and I'm never going back to the state I was in, even though I still play league quite a bit to this day.

I've spent my entire life around people who have done drugs. It has ruined everyone and every family I know. It's ruined marriages, fucked up the lives of the kids, sent people to prison, shaved off IQ points, caused O.D.'s and murders, reduced the ability to make money in any normal fashion to the point they end up dealing in a vain effort to make rent and keep their own addiction going, and generally made people stupid, mean, short sighted, and awful. I can say from decades of first hand experience that drug use is just a pathetic way to hide from the world that ends up destroying the body and mind. Losers and cowards use drugs. I have seen it, lived it. I have nothing but contempt for people who use.

From personal experience weed is far from gateway drug. Tried a few times just made me sleepy and lethargic, boring to be honest.

My neighbor (works in PC repair shop) is smoking weed like there is no tomorrow, every fucking day and never showed any interest in other drugs.

Now of course to some it might be a starting point to other drugs but those people will try harder drugs with or without smoking weed first.
