Palmetto State has an American made AK that finally works. It took us until 2020 to figure it out, but it did happen. I've shot at least 600 rounds so far from mine, not a single issue. Jewtube has guys running thousands - and no microscopic damage detected. PSA also does a lifetime warranty. You could shoot 5,000 rounds, break something, and send it back. Proven they honor it. Their AK is fucking cheap as fuck. You could buy two for 1,200.

I have a PSA M16 BCG and it has worked flawlessly so far but I've only ever put 2k rounds through it so far.

I can't comment on their other products other then that I do not trust their price points for such a system with fine tolerances.

My biggest regret was never buying a vepr in 7.62x39.

Put a couple of decent ARs on layaway for 10% down today, 90 day terms. If prices go up I can flip, if they go down I lose around $100. If they stay the same, I'll know days or weeks before normies that sjit is hitting the fan and I will go pick them up. I have other ARs on layaway around town, and have several in the house already.

Roger, Bushmaster, PSA, S&W are all good brands and can be had in great condition used for under $600.

This. You need to learn to shoot iron sights anyway. That's a feature you need to look for in your purchase. Lots of people pull them off, so make sure your rifle is usable from the jump. Optics and attachments are icing, not the cake. You're better off firing 1000 rounds and learning to shoot properly than dumping $300 on shit you don't need.

Mag pouches and a rack are good buys as well. Buy some .223 for practice, then rezero with the 5.56 you will use in a SHTF situation, load mags, stack in pouches on a carrier, and be ready to stack bodies.

Get a backup pistol when you have some cash. Something around $300-400 in 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45. A Mossberg 50p or Remington 870 is another good addition to the arsenal for under $300.

If you are cash poor now and just waiting for Trump bux, do the layaway thing and lock in cheap prices while you can. Consider traveling within your state to where guns are more plentiful if you are in an urban area.

I haven't had any issues with PSA - got my uppers and lowers from them, ALG triggers elsewhere. All built myself bc cheaper. Most people complain about shipping times. You do realize PSA's entire belief is to arm every American with enough firearms to not be confiscated, right??

Just buy an M&P 15 and get a bunch of mags and accessories with the rest of the money.

I own a Norinco CQ-A which is a poorly machined M4 clone with 10K rounds through it and it runs like a swiss watch. I paid $550 CAD for it. I literally use bottom barrel oil from walmart that I bought years ago and it's perfectly fine. AK reliability is bullshit. Invest in better mags and ARs have fuck all issues.

It's much faster than 7.62 and fragments on impact with soft targets. It does not have the barrier penetration that 7.62 has but there is good reason why it's NATO's primary cartridge.

5.56 > 7.62x39 simply because it's more versatile. I do like 7.62x39, but it's fun to play at long ranges too and you can just slap a Nikon P223 on an AR and being surprisingly effective at 500+ yards.
