FLATTEN THE CURVE

what do they mean by this brainwash phrase? its working too as NPC retards i know are repeating it like robots. WHAT DOES THIS REALLY MEAN?

Infect and kill as many people as possible.

It means slow the rate of infection so we have enough hospital beds and supplies for those who need it, why is that a difficult concept?

How fucking stupid are you? It means trying to draw out the peak, so the health system isn't overwhelmed. It means a longer (maybe twice or 3 times as long) outbreak, but maybe a quarter to a tenth of the deaths we would have if we didn't flatten the curve.

Because it's fucking nonsense if you have more than three braincells.

Kill as many medium IQ people as possible while increasing the number of extremely intelligent and extremely disabled people

Same number of infected people in more time. Is not that hard

It means that eventually everyone will get infected but we can delay the inevitable, slow it down so that it gives hospitals a chance to provide as much care to the infected before reaching max capacity. Got to keep in mind that the virus isn't the only thing we need care for, we still have all the other health problems to deal with and that already strains several hospitals.

I think, they want people to feel like they still have agency; it's better than just saying, we're fucked.

>they want people to feel like they still have agency
They do that by saying wash your hands even though most infections are spread by droplets

Holy shit, another smart person appears. Sup bro.

How is it nonsense. If the amount affected is greater than the amount that can be care for properly, then it would cause unnecessary and avoidable deaths. It has nothing to do with stopping the amount of people infected. How is it that you guys can't think?

>GAME OVER THE VIRUS IS SPREADING TOO FAST!!

Flattening the curve is still better. The point is that you don't reach a peak high enough that it overwhelms the systems and people die. We could treat a disease for 15 years as long as not enough people have it at the same time.

that shit is stupid as fuck

DON'T QUESTION IT

JUST FLATTEN IT!!!

>Killing our economy for several years just to save 10% of boomers

Boomers really going out with a bang on this one. World ends with them.

You're a fucking idiot if you don't understand what it means.

But if we flatten out the curve it also means our economy will be fucked much longer. I'm beginning to wonder if we shouldn't just get this thing over with and develop herd immunity rather than completely destroy our economy over 6 months. Lots of people are going to lose their jobs because of "flatten the curve".

Because unless you're willing to "social distance" for a decade, it doesn't jive with the big scary projections. So either the projections are bullshit, or "muh flat curve" is.

I've been lumped in with normies who just started paying attention when their sportsball was canceled. I've been worried about this for months. I don't need patronized along with all of them. And at some point you will cost more with this in lost livelihoods and suicides from isolation than sacrificed boomers.

The era of traps has come

Means they are admitting the virus can't be stopped, but if the infection rate and severe cases are stretched out then the hospitals won't be overloaded and fewer people (probably the lower priority and higher mortality boomers) will die.

The system will be overwhelmed if they aren't lying about projections. The economic devastation will all be in vain. Unless you're gonna hunker down til the '30s.

youtu.be/Kas0tIxDvrg

As always people that spout the NPC epic maymay are fucking dunning kruger braindead retards themselves

One of my friends has his appendix taken out today. Good thing the hospitals were not overwhelmed.

im talking about the phrase itself. it's being used as a brainwashing tool, for NPCs to reduce everything thats happening (and happening behind the scenes) to "flatten the curve"

im always skeptical when media creates a phrase for NPCs to use, as it stonewalls discussion or opposing opinions and reduces it to the designated phrase.

So you don't think a treatment or vaccine will be created in less than a decade?

So, you're saying that according to "some projections", regardless of our deliberate actions to slow infection, claims that we'll all get infected at a high rate to a degree that is almost pointless unless we continue the path for a decade? So, then we should we do nothing then? Shit, maybe the UK was right about their herd immunity.

You guys are melodramatic and genocidal.

It literally came from some schmo who hijacked a CDC graphic and put the line in with Powerpoint. No credible source validates this stupid fucking meme. In two weeks when midwits are done showing off their virtue and venture back out, the spike will happen. Or it's a NOTHINGBURGER from the start. Don't fool yourself that going NEET for two weeks will do anything but ensure small businesses all die so Chinese and (((conglomerates))) can take over even more.

Can't stop the spread, so just try to slow it down so they don't have to spend money on increasing ICU capacity.

do you expect everyone to understand and say "R0"

This is how VICE is programming npcs

That's good, we're not at Italy levels yet. My clinics fine when I went last week.

They are right. Fuck Boomers and their maniacal selfishness. They can't even die with grace.

>flatten the curve
>out of an abundance of caution
>social distancing
>don't wear a mask
The last one really pisses me off because all the masks have been bought and I see NOBODY wearing a damn mask.

>Talking about NPC's as if he isn't one
Most people like you are mentally deficient and require simple phrases to help them understand what to do in day to day life, let alone a crisis.

start calling them "Flat Curvers" and they'll stop spouting it off lel

Its Fat shaming and insensitive as fuck

no i expect to be able to have discussions relating to the outbreak, that might trail from the MSM narrative. but i cant because responses are all "bleep bloop flatten the curve user"

I'm on team why contain it at this point.

It's a buzzphrase that most people regurgitate that don't ever do any more reading than a headline. Will it work? Maybe. Will it fail? Maybe.

Do you understand the area under a curve?

Flattening the curse just means to reduce the factors that allow for infection to increase in order for the numbers to start becoming stable due to a lack of new people it's able to infect.

This is a deliberate attempt to crash the economy by tptb to further consolidate capital and buy up everything for cheap once everything goes to shit. This is being facilitated by the mass media which is completely controlled by them. They saw an opportunity and are now running with it. The average man in the US was doing better, economically, than at any point in decades and this made them seethe and kvetch.

Ask yourself this - where the fuck were these measures when 20% of the US pop caught the swine flu in 09 which hospitalized 300k and killed 12k? This covid joke will do nowhere near those numbers.

I've been social distancing for 20 years. I was born for this.

It's straightening the curves flattening the hills, the mountains might get them but law never will.

Are you too fucking mentally impaired to understand why overloading the capacity of the healthcare system is a bad thing especially when it involves a virus that is twice as infectious as the flu?

Won’t it kill the economy while attempting to save boomers with one foot on the other side?

Looks like it makes the shit last three times as long and all the weak people get to survive. Fuck that.

If millions of people get infected then the ratio of people that need to put on ventilators also increases and there is only 160,000 ventilators in the US. Half of the people put on ventilators die within the first week and the other half need to be on the respirator for 4 weeks.

If you do not "flatten the curve" the virus will spread exponentially like the graph is showing and there will be too many critically ill people and not enough medical care which will cause the deaths to also increase exponentially.

uhhhh fucking based

How can I say this any clearer:
If the projections are anywhere close to right, there is no way on God's green earth that "muh social distance" will make even a dent. But the economic damage is absolutely real and completely avoidable. It's a fucking psyop and you are being played.

You retard. Flu vaccine doesn't keep you from getting the flu. Treatments for the flu are only effective within first 48 hours. You don't know if you have coronavirus for at LEAST 48 hours sometimes 11-14 days fuck

I just consulted my four brain cells. They told me to tell you:
>you’re a retard
>you’re a retard
>you’re a retard
>you’re a colossal retard

"Flattening the curve" is a meme. It's literally impossible when you look into the math of it.
medium.com/@joschabach/flattening-the-curve-is-a-deadly-delusion-eea324fe9727

>there will be too many critically ill people and not enough medical care which will cause the deaths to also increase exponentially.
But this is exactly what I want to happen.

>experts say we should flatten the curve
>people hear this and it makes sense to them
>they repeat it in conversation
wow yeah so brainwashed. kinda like how you saw the term “npc” on Yas Forums and started brainlessly applying it to every mundane thing you came across in order to feel superior like the colossal simpering faggot you are

One thing about this whole "flatten the curve" thing that crossed my mind. Wouldn't the virus have more time to mutate by hopping around several small groups rather than just letting it run wild? If this thing mutates so having it in the past means nothing, then we have to start the whole cycle over again. Thoughts faggots?

Day of the Rake when?

The healthcare system line won't stay a constant, it will become some other positive function over time as need dictates. The goal is to keep the curve low enough that healthcare system capacity can increase with time without reaching saturation.

I've been against this terrible idea since i first heard it, and I'll explain why (blog post incoming):

You've all recently seen the turmoil the market has undergone because of the virus, but we're only seeing the beginning. The longer these quarantine and 'social distancing' protocols are in place the worse everyone will be. Most small businesses live on the edge of profitability - they can barely stand two weeks without income, and we're making it so they'll have to withstand a month or longer. Inevitably, many will go out of business and thousands will be out of jobs. Even larger corporations are at risk depending on how long this continues - most just simply don't have the cash on hand to continue operations without some form of income - ref. United, the major airlines, CCL, and essentially the entire tourism industry. This is bad because it will push us into a true recession and maybe even a depression, because right now we're kind of on the tipping point.

>cont'd

This is bad for many reasons, but exacerbated by the fact that the Fed has already tried taking measures to alleviate the financial crisis (the rate cut, the stimulus package they're talking about, more QE, etc). The problem with this is that the Fed is treating the market perturbations as symptoms of a weak market, but it's not - the market fluctuations are driven by real social problems which should have been fixed outside the domain of economics. The only levers the Fed has to pull are those of a central bank, and these won't work to fix the underlying problems, which becomes a pretty big concern when an actual recession hits because of all this - at that point the Fed won't have any more tricks up its sleeve and we will really be fucked. The people pushing this 'flatten the curve' thing are doctors - and so they're looking at this from the perspective of a medical professional, i.e. save as many lives as possible. Which is laudable and would have worked if the govt had stepped in to do this immediately when we only had a handful of cases. We're well past that point now, and so trying to spread it out won't have any actual affect on the virus (at this stage contact tracing is fucking pointless) and will just cause serious economic harm.

>cont'd

>fin

The best option now would be to take the billions of dollars they were planning on pumping into the economy and using it to bolster the health care system to raise max capacity in the short term. It won't save everyone above the line, but those that will be affected worse are, sad to say, those that are the least useful to society - the sick and old. It sounds ruthless but these are the people we can afford to spare, especially when you consider that they're health/lives are coming at the cost of our economy and quality of life for everyone else, for decades to come. We don't need doctors making recommendations anymore, we need a strong leader who can make the tough call to save those who should most be saved, and do the greatest good for the greatest number. Thank you for reading my blog.

>tl;dr shit's fucked, yo

Thank God the jews shut everything down, locked you down, wrecked your economy, banned cash, gatherings political involvement, and put those pesky doubters into gulags.
Totally worth it goys, otherwise you'd be dead.
