I was dressed working class and my car wasn't fancy so I didn't make a tempting target. Carrying a gun would have been a good idea though but I was unarmed since I was in college, thankfully I didn't need it

That's not my answer though. The worst place I've ever been is Harare, Zimbabwe. The remaining white population there(including my family) lives in prison-like compounds just north of downtown. And if you aren't very close with the government, you are simply not safe there. I'm very glad I got out.

Cabrini Greens housing project in Chicago in the 90s. I was just passing through. They looked at me like they hated me. A couple dozen youths were at the only liquor? convenience? store nearby that only operated through a bulletproof glass window.

Detroit, MI- was running out of gas in the wrong area. Youths were congregated around the gas pumps, I assume offering true friendship to anybody who needed it. I managed to find some place to go without their assistance.

It's the fucking worst. I knew nothing about it when I agreed to go there. We were right on the dividing line of "kinda ok" and "worse than detroit tier ghetto". We were directly across the street from the "community center" too, which had basketball hoops. I lived right on the corner of Jefferson and Owen, take a look on street view to get an idea. Hearing gun shots at night wasn't uncommon. Nor was seeing literal crack zombies walking the streets late at night. I usually /night walk/ every night, but only did it twice when I was there. After the 2nd night I had to stop.
