The word 'European' is much more useful when talking about race because historically the people in Europe were more or less racially homogeneous. But they are only European in nationality. A matter of where they were born, rather than their genetics. A racial African born in England is still an African. A racial Swede born in the USA is still Swedish. A racial German born in China is still a German. And, once more for good measure, a racial Jap born in Canada is still Japanese.
So the term 'European' used to describe an unmixed individual descended from people of the original European tribes still stands as much more useful than the obtuse and nondescriptive 'White'.
