Why the fuck is America's healthcare system so shitty?
My husband is fucking dying. He came home from work yesterday with the wettest cough I have ever heard.
Overnight he has gotten progressively worse-- 103+ fever, unable to speak, coughing up his fucking guts.
I called the nurse line and they told me to bring him into the urgent care to get tested.
I did, and you want to know what they said? They said they wouldn't test him unless it was so severe he needed hospitalization. They then questioned me on how I knew about the place and who told us about it.
They said to take him home and just assume he was positive.
I have to fucking wait until he is on his deathbed to get him tested. His work still wants him to fucking come in.
The administration has left our healthcare in fucking shambles.
They state that 80% is mild is a total fucking sham because their definition of "mild" ranges from asymptomatic to anything that does not require life saving hospitalization. Ie pneumonia that doesnt require oxygen.

I have no idea. I've been to emergency here, had to wait 3 hours once, but the doctors were nice and checked me out. Another time went to emergency GP, didn't wait long, very good. Totally free too unless you go to a private place. We got both private and public healthcare, public is restricted to people that have lived here long enough though so no shitty immigrants getting free shit for nothing. Private costs money but is great. Public is also pretty damn good because it all really comes down to whether the doctor is good and even private doctors can be shit sometimes. All in all we got the best of both worlds and point-based immigration. What the fuck is America doing?

As for our healthcare system, this is the result of the ACA. All our county health services and government funded ERs were replaced with privatized urgent care clinics. The government money was going towards the insurance companies to cover those who couldn’t afford care and then with that “free” insurance they were supposed to be able to get care at all these urgent care centers instead of ERs. Ten years ago we didn’t have urgent care centers.

Yep, imagine when the infected rate reaches hundreds of thousands.. this is exactly what is going to happen to most people. People expect if they catch coronavirus they will go to hospital. NOPE BUDDY. NOPE.. they're not going to help you with a fucking thing in most cases.. unless you are near death and need intensive care. And even then they might let you die. This is why this virus is so dangerous, it spreads very fast, and eventhough it doesn't have that high of a mortality rate, it easily overwhelms hospitals to the point where you're just going to be told what your husband is told. Then they'll come carry him away in a fucking hazmat body bag when he croaks. Which hopefully he won't. And bar up the doors till they can fumigate the place.

Which is why it is important to trace it back so that if you find someone who has covid, actually his wife should now also be under observation and self quarantine, and tested, so you get all the circles so to speak that might have been in touch with someone who is tested positive, get them under observation and self quarantine if they have the virus.
Also it's very very bad idea to keep comparing this to the average flu. It's not correct and this virus is far more dangerous. They pretended it was like a flu, and said that for 3 months, till it started wreaking havoc in europe. And then they realized, wow i guess it's more serious than we thought.. Hence why the lockdown now.
