>I am in leadership at a Seattle Whole Foods location, and tomorrow, I am encouraging my Team to call out sick, regardless of their current health. I am no longer comfortable asking them to show up to work. My hands are bleeding from washing and sanitizing. Each time Governor Inslee shuts down another sector of business, another wave of scared shoppers flood the store.
>While the rest of the city is reducing their exposure and therefore their risk, we are in the unfortunate position of putting ourselves on the front lines of exposure. Besides the medical industry, grocers and pharmacists are the very last to shutter the doors. The medical industry has assumed risk, and are compensated appropriately. Pharmacists' salary estimate for Seattle is 110k-140k yearly. How the hell am I supposed to tell some cashier to show up and subject themselves to this for 16.90 an hour?
Great, give their jobs to unemployed people who are struggling temporarily.
Logan Davis
I don't think you understand how terrible the situation is, no one will want that job dealing with a riotous crowd and that's just over the horizon. It's gonna take one spark before it causes a vicious chain reaction of the public lashing out at grocery store workers and the workers quitting their jobs taking the store with them
so some retarded woman is bitching? thats fine, im sure the men will take care of things per usual when she goes home to be a bitch.
Cooper Morris
They should unironically issue hazmat suits for the cashiers
I stopped going to my grocery store out of pity for the crew there
James Howard
This is the time for grocery workers to unionize. Refuse to go into work until your financial demands are met. This is literally the only time they have leverage so stick it to the capitalist bourgeoisie while you can.
Carter Gray
You should stop going to the grocery store because they're putting you -- the customer -- at risk
This was one of my first thoughts when things started to get bad. Why the fuck would anyone keep working at a grocery store for minimum wage when their job just got 1000x more difficult?
Isaac Bell
Fuck I was just going to ask out this Hispanic chick at Whole Foods. If she isn’t there I won’t be able to cooooooom
Jason Mitchell
We need to start tipping cashiers. They will come in if they are comped.
Carson Ross
I work at a Save on Foods. It's like fucking Christmas every day.
Wyatt Nelson
Cool, call in sick, get fired, job replaced by Mexicans willing to work for cheap despite the pandemic. What a wonderful plan.
Colton Green
>voluntarily leaving a stable job in this economy
Not going to make it man
Elijah Cook
I wonder what will happen when all these low wagies realize it's not worth it. Pretty sure the bosses will give them double pay or some incentive but that really depends on people. I'm genuinely impressed, I went to the supermarket and I wanted to leave very quick, those chasiers and clerck are exposed to thousands of customers all day in a closed environment, they are high risk of contracting it, thta's why in Italy people were waiting outside the supermarket with a 2 meters distance. A crowded supermarket is no good.
Connor Russell
Unironically the “uneducated” little guy at the circle K cash register and employees at grocery stores and people like that are the true hero’s. But to be honest I think a lot of it has to do with cops they have nothing else they can do so they do it.
My dad is an investment banker and he saw the threat coming. But was a deer in headlights. Didn’t cash out any money, we could have been in Montana by now on some farm Airbnb. But it’s almost like he’s rather it all come down then be deluded into thinking he might never be going back to his job
Julian Murphy
Mexico is about to close the border on the U.S., you think they're gonna come into work dealing with racist COVID-19 Americans when they could be out in the field dealing with grapes, cabbage, and nature?
It's become a dangerous job both for their health and safety. Management won't even allow them to wear protective masks and gloves because for the customers. On top of that, they're making them work overtime, it's only a matter of time before they get maimed and they decide it's not worth the risk.
They should get hazard pay desu. When I worked as a hospital cleaner I was on $35 an hour as a base rate.
Isaiah Sanders
It's only a matter of time before a relatively healthy 30-year old American has the short end of the stick and keels over due to the COVID-19. Then all the cashiers and frontline workers will walk out and chaos ensues.
My wife is a nurse and she quit her job over this. We have more than enough money to spare and don't need corona. Hope the doctors follow suit.
Charles Hughes
I'm thinking these grocery workers are just like the Chernobyl cleaners that were sent to fix the mess not knowing how dangerous it was, they all died quick and nobody cared about them.
Or tell greedy fucks don't expect payment for rent and other things because the ones sticking a gun at their head (governments) aren't expecting to be paid either.
NOBODY IS STAYING INSIDE IF YOU EXPECT BILLS TO BE PAID ON TIME, FACT
Ryder Martin
Retard. Minorities don't play around with Diseases sold by the media. They are the FIRST to overreact.
Jayden Long
Dude, they aren't releasing all the occupation of ppl who got it. I looked on twitter, some girl said her day works at some shop and contracted the virus and gave it to his wife, she was warning ppl not to go to that shop.
Andrew Bell
I work Seafood at a store. I gave up. I just work at my own pace now. Some lady yelled at me the other day. Told her to fuck off. Manager kicked her out. We are all fucking done with the bullshit. No, we won't put up with the attitude anymore.
Gabriel Edwards
Think it's time to get a new job bros.
Carter Fisher
It doesn't help they're on reddit where any bad things COVID-19 gets downvoted to oblivion. They all think it's just the flu with bad side effects for 80-year olds. It's only a matter of time before they all wake up and realize how bad the virus is.
Sorry you went through this, my condolences.
What's the point of having a job when you're dead?
You're implying anyone wants this job, like if you can't get a job as a cashier in a normal situation, why would you want that job when it's life threatening? Or do you imply they should be forced like in a communist shithole? I mean if they want ppl to beg for this job they should pay very high.
Cooper Rodriguez
>Think it's time to get a new job bros. Think it's time for governments to accept they have no reason to be trusted and have dropped the ball for the last time. It's China's fault but we're not in China and you're the one actively fucking up containment because of muh GDP.
Samuel Davis
>Sorry you went through this I am too. The stress level will kill me before the Virus. Fucking corporate came in wearing masks, but won't allow us to do the same. I don't think the virus is that bad, but with how much stress we are putting up with. It just might be for us.
If this is the best job you can get you have no right to bitch. You decided this was your ceiling and no one else
Sebastian Perry
Fuck those corporate scumbags. Just stop going in. If your landlord/whoever tries to evict you tell him to fuck off. What’s he going to do? Call the cops? They’re under quarantine too.
Josiah Butler
>t. boomer shitting himself in retirement Yeah come together, don't get supplies to make sure you and yours survive, everyone is looking after each other. Imagine being a mental patient like you and still thinking this is the 1950s with a homogenous high trust society.
Your "panic buying" is the result of nobody fucking having faith in each other, especially people who invaded you.
Hunter Barnes
This.
Jacob Cox
We need a new union that bans chinks from coming in the store.
You would probably do better organizing a very public strike in front of the store. The panic shoppers would social media the situation to death and gain exposure to push the issue on some msm programs and potentially push some radical, quick policy changes to that those at the top can still cash in on all the hysteria before the opportunity is over.
Carter Bell
Also, lick my butthole.
Sebastian Diaz
I didn't panic buy because I have been ready for this for years. That's the thing with us boomers we are all smarter than you
Robert Lee
Also, enjoy dying useless eater.
Anthony Miller
>That's the thing with us boomers we are all smarter than you >1965 Immigration Act >W-what? What do you mean I can't have my ethnic food and cheap labor?!?!??!! Apparently not.
Anthony Young
Fuck yourself retard go back to Woodstock.
Carter Hall
I profited off of it though.
Woodstock had some of the best music of all time and nothing ever came close to it.
Camden Nelson
I can’t wait to die. I’m over this garbage. See you on the other side.
Dominic Nelson
Canada is fuck I’m in Toronto and can’t find milk some day and all the Medicine is gone
Americans are freeking out too much, if everyone stays cool there’s no need to stockpile shit or to loot stores. We’re quarantined since last Saturday but people in suburban areas are just cool.
Easton Flores
Martial law is the imposition of direct military control of normal civilian functions by a government, especially in response to a temporary emergency such as invasion or major disaster
Robert Campbell
The cowardly Canadians. So shocking. Boring underachievers living off the teet.
Go fuck yourself and your ugly wife.
Kevin Brooks
I'm not the one eternally damned to hell, jew.
Jacob Morales
Then stay at Woodstock. Retard Boomers are 50 LBS overweight and now they're freaking out over some virus give me a break idiot.
Cameron Lopez
>I am in leadership at the Seattle Whole Foods location... Not tomorrow you won't be. Some other thirsty soul will gladly take your job, you liberal idiot.
Life isn't fair. WF ought to double their pay for the duration--at least. Odds are they won't. I haven't shopped there in years because they suck and it's not called "Whole Paycheck" without reason. Everyone has to make their own choice, I guess.
Benjamin Peterson
Give me 30/hr and I will be in the store cracking heads and stocking shelves tomorrow.
Caleb Cook
The Mexicans will have to get in front of the stampede of poor white people. It's the Pacific Northwest. And I can guarantee you most Mexicans can't or won't move that fast, kek.
Josiah Carter
The Mexicans are going to be a huge problem.
Xavier Rodriguez
Sorry poorfag. You can go contract diseases like a retard for minimum wage. Intelligent people made the correct decisions in life and are free to enjoy not dying.
Josiah Morris
Some kind billionaire ought to distribute masks FOC to all grocery workers nationwide.
Wyatt Baker
>tfw work at a grocery store >still only being paid $15/hour despite every day being like Christmas Eve on steroids >working 9 days in a row as of tomorrow
Fucking kill me
Kayden Ross
That’s cuc to you, nigger.
Camden Gutierrez
I would refuse you service. There would be nothing you can do about it. You kiss my ass during these times you stupid old fuck. When we get an official quarantine. My plan is to go camping innawoods. I ain't dealing with no bullshit drama. Putting my ramen and multi-vitamins and fishing supplies in my sled. Marching into the Cascades. Fucking done with this bullshit if it gets quarantined. I'm fine with Asians, unironically. They don't cough, even if they need to. They wear masks. They are polite. MOST, BOOMERS DESERVE DEATH though. Always worried for my hippie era customers though, so fucking nice.
Thomas Lewis
I was at the fuel station last night (its a very frequently visited place) and the clerks did not look happy at all they had gloves on and they even put a distancing thing in front of the counter so the customers don't get to close its was surreal , like we're already in the post apocalyptic world
Carson Hill
They should call put sick so the media stops its bullshit.
Andrew Carter
Fact is, within weeks grocery stores (most of them, anyway) will be delivery only. The big guys are all set up with delivery services already. And it's not such a big deal working in a closed environment with no actual customers on site. In fact, Safeway is already hiring tons of extra staff, including delivery people, from what I just heard. Good for the new hires, someone has to do well from this shit to make up for all those who won't.
Connor Turner
I feel your pain man I'm glad I don't work retail anymore, especially at a time like this
Xavier Nguyen
You are in charge of your life user. You really want to be the guy who died so Laqueesha could get her 20th box of pop tarts?
Lincoln Peterson
If I get layed off the first place I'm going is Walmart for an application. After I get my ducks in a row of course.
Juan Morales
Just say you have the coof. Get free time off. You can laugh and say it was nothing, until you need more time off later. Best part about pandemics.
Julian Bell
>no one will want that job dealing with a riotous crowd
Get injured on the job during the riot. Worker's comp. Pretty sweet.
Joshua Walker
I've already committed myself to not returning to work at my pharmacy. We had the on-duty nurse practitioner at the in store clinic call out because her child has corona, and a colleague feel so sick that she had to get approval from the district manager to go get tested immediately. No clinic or OR in the area was willing to test her because they considered her to be a part of the 'low-risk' population, and our manager told her to come back to work for the rest of the shift anyway. The company and the public can fuck off. I'll hide in my apartment for the next 4 months waiting for the eviction freeze to end. People can start picking their medications up again when these companies decide they are willing to pay their employees the commensurate wage for the risk we are expected to undertake.
Levi Butler
Workers comp is based on your salary. If you already make shit what good is being shackled to that shit wage for the rest of your life?
Henry Williams
>Photographic evidence of the creature that collapsed the entire world's economy for their "health".
>Why the fuck would anyone keep working at a grocery store for minimum wage when their job just got 1000x more difficult?
Not everyone is a selfish leaf fuck? Some of us believe in public service, large and small. Time to step up.
Joshua Rogers
based if true
Samuel Lee
Absolutely not, but at the same time I really do need the money.
Samuel King
>Not going to make it man Depends on how much free money the socialist will be handing out for not working at all.
Henry Davis
demand a raise
Liam Reyes
kek, for every corona case there are 20,000 regular flu cases
Austin Bennett
we're not even talking about actual conservable food here right? thats the thing, these people are buying meat, eggs and milk like it would last weeks and months they'll have their trashcans full of it afterwards
It's Seattle, they'll just steal what they need from some other store who hasn't clued in yet
Aaron Smith
Fuck Hole Foods
Aiden Hernandez
blut do u meen u outta ground beefs >I'm sorry, it lasted 2 hours on the shelf. Our Warehouse cut our order because they didn't have enough. News is our Supplier doesn't have enough cattle for this level of panic purchasing. Oim shloppin somewere else, uuf u weren't all hidin food.
i work at a grocery store and this same thing was going through my head all day. i actually woke up feeling like i was starting to get sick and called my boss and told her i wasn't feeling well, and how ordinarily i would just come anyways but i'm may have something serious that i could be spreading. she begged me to just come in anyways. when this is over, all the store managers will be getting huge bonuses because we're making a weeks a more worth of sales everyday. but the regular workers will get nothing except 20% chance of holes in their lungs. $22/hr isn't enough to put up with this shit. alot of firemen in the area are catching it( they hardly ever fight fires where i am and are basically just emts most of the time) but they make like 100K+ per year and retire at 50. i need hazard pay.
William Hernandez
You HAVE to stop buying so much PLEASE.
Logan Gonzalez
>public service Except it isn't public service, its private employment for a minimum wage salary LMAO
Brandon Morgan
Really though I can’t imagine working at a grocery store right now. I’ve prepped so I’m staying out of the stores right now for the most part but I’ve picked up some produce the past few days and not only is the volume intense, people are on edge and being complete shitheads to the workers. These people deserve some kind of massive bonus, equity gift, raise, vacation, or preferably all of the above when this is over.
Sebastian Miller
I work at one of the Seattle stores in management, we are pretty sure it is the Interbay or Westlake Front end team leader. Either way they are being dramatic. they have literally hired 4 extra janitors from labor ready per store to walk around all day sanitizing everything. It drives me nuts i have fears of super bacteria
Robert Sanders
> being part of the critical food supply line
> not public service
Let me guess. You do think being a Transgender Studies Professor at the local college is public service.
Owen Jenkins
>Steps in moving from box to shelf >Need UPC >Need tag, with corporate regulated price and code >Need all relevent information on tag, like COOL if necessary >Needs to be on shelf where product is going to be located, following a specific corporate schematic that you have to manage >Needs to be updated regularly >Then you need to know how much you have on hand, how much backstock, how much on order >Then you have to compensate for short orders >Then you have to compensate for recalls >Then you can put shit on the shelf. Might need a specific shipper though, might be retarded new age packaging that doesn't stand up properly >If you can get something on the shelf, during panic season. Ideally you get customer questions. More likely you get a retard that can't read signs, and demands you walk them to where there stupid fucking product is. Let alone if they are even at the right corporation for the brand they want >So you finish getting one fucking shit on the shelf. You need a place to keep the cardboard, out of the customers way, keep in mind these fat fucks are huge >But wait, you are being timed by the company. You have a quota to fulfill that was always unreasonable so they could expect you to show up on holidays or whenever they want. So they can fire you at the drop of a hat. >You also have to follow safety procedures designed specifically to slow you down >That's not all, once you finish one aisle. You have to communicate that to your team, this is after checking each container for the date it was put on the shelf and rotating appropriately.
Yeah, fucking kill yourself.
Blake Howard
Whole Foods is a church of woke capitalism, not a grocery store.
Logan Scott
Publix grocery worker here I have one goal and thats to own a house ive been saving for years and im about to hit 100k if this economy tanks and old faggots who horded property start dropping like flies ill finally be able to afford one. Then i can finally tell everyone to fuck off.
Kayden Wright
i work in a factory that makes food. everyone is sick. they worked a forklift driver so much he had a stroke at work. yeaterday i worked an 18 hour shift, took a 2 hour nap and came back for 8 more. then was guilt tripped for not being able to stay longer. Im gonna snap and make the news soon I think.
David Ramirez
My uncle runs a grocery store and every worker is stealing food and so are a lot of customers. He has 27 security cameras but so many people are robbing the store that it's pointless. Employees clock in for just long enough to steal the food and take sick leave for the day. He's going through 3 times as much food but has no one to stock it. This is in a 100% white area.
Cameron Gomez
we have a guy in our place (chemical plant) that comes now to clean the break room every 4 hours they may want us to work now 12 hour shifts (because all the foreign workers might have to stay at home) so I'll work 12 hour shifts 7 week-days dayshift (2 days weekend) 7 weekdays nightshift etc
but still atleast i'm not one of the poor grocery store guys
Tyler Hill
Food Industry is unironically cancer. It was the worst decision of my life. Whether it be Grocery, Seafood, Deli, Factory, or otherwise. It sucks. The margins are too small. The people are too huge. The cunts are too wide.
Charles King
The managers won't allow that, "it will scare the customers"
Charles Wilson
>then was guilt tripped for not being able to stay longer. I fucking hate these people, btw they know that WE'RE the ones that actually stay like this (unlike them) and then still have the nerve to guilt trip us like this (and it sadly very often works even FUCK)
Jayden Barnes
Oh come on doomer, it's not THAT bad. Holy shit LOL you guys are full of shit.
Tyler Scott
I think you deserve a bullet in the head for propagating the empty platitudes of remorseless mass-murdering industrialists who view their minimum wage peons as dispensable. I hope somebody find out who you are and where you live one day.
Leo Cooper
Well, I was super nice to everyone today when I picked up a few last minute items. I even packed my own stuff--I prefer that anyway because I can bring in the cold stuff first and put that away before dealing with heavier items.
Jace Torres
>be white >act like niggers
I knew you'd finally all show your true nature.
Brandon Campbell
>I work at a Save on Foods. It's like fucking Christmas every day.
yeah I know what you mean. Richmond Costco is like that too...arabs and niggers wearing turbans and bedsheets and shit.
you're right, but stop that user, he doesn't deserve a bullet
Ayden Hernandez
>if you can't get a job as a cashier in a normal situation, why would you want that job when it's life threatening well maybe those faggots will hire me now that its a crisis, ill happily take someones job rn.
Grayson Jones
> Exempt worker in ops management. When the stockroom computer system crashed actually went downstairs after a 12 hour day to work for a few more hours processing kits and miscellaneous issues before heading home. For no extra pay. For months. Just because there was a need.
