runescape was developed by andrew gower and to a lesser extent his brother. he was inspired by MUDs in the 90s, and began working on runescapes predessor in the mid to late 90s. runescape is, basically, a watered down version of ultima online. with softer penalties for player character death, and less robust player owned housing

the sound file in original runescape for cooking, was gower recording his mum cooking bacon. the game is full of monty python and other contemporary british TV/media references. the entire morytania region of the game is basically all based around mort d' arthur of arthurian legend. there are countless examples of other quest lines being ripped straight from british media/albion lore, but the game is basically as anglo as it gets. it was and remains so entertaining because it was developed by passionate people, who carried on gower's work and enthusiasm as they continued to develop quest lines and characters.

sometimes i wonder if games like dnd are bad for ones spiritual health, like if its bad to play a character. but the games ive been apart of have been so entertaining and honestly so innocuous. meet up once a week with bros, eat junk food, put on a silly voice, and fight dragons. the characters i play are basically all lawful good so i dont really see how it could impact someone negatively and spiritually. dnd is really one of the few mostly-male hobbies left.

I got addicted to killing people in the wild, 1vs1ing at edge. In RSC I had like 3 pures, then I got into RS2 and had every type of pure imaginable. 1 defs, zerkers, range - 2h f2p builds, 20 def guys, everything. Then they ruined the game....and then made OSRS. I then started playing again and made a bunch of maxed out pures. Im almost 30 years old and still play. You can find me at edge wild in both f2p and p2p. Its like crack to me. I spend all day pking at edge killing and being killed.
