I’ve planned out three months of food for my family for $800 and that’s 4 mouths to feed and I got good cuts of meat. Using fruit and veg and meat wholesalers it isn’t hard to do.

This is because all the supermarkets cut staff far below minimum and carry zero reserves of stock. They should be filling the stores overnight, but to save money they moved them afternoon filling. They are introducing new trading hours to try and fix this, plus at least one major retailer is rapidly hiring 5000 staff to fill thw warehouses/transport/packing side of things. As mentioned above - they are stripped bare not because of a lack of actual resources, but because production and supply chains were operating far below the minimum necessary to function ALREADY and the slightest hiccup has sent the cart off the rails. They physically can't put food on show because they don't have enough people to fill it. Likewise they can't supply enough toilet paper because they simply don't have enough drivers to transport the demanded quantities. In terms of trees to supply paper? Fuck tons. Factories capable of making enough for demand? Not so much. It's poor forward planning and greed by companies/share holders. Not actual resources.
