I'll put to one side whether this is overhyped or not and ideas about conspiracies. This is about how the crises (based primarily on fear) is being or can be exploited for the purpose of concentration of power:

another thing to consider too is that now that people are being conditioned to this type of reaction, including government having increased power to take away our freedom, after this crisis passes they could begin a lock down at another time based on a virus that actually is a hoax, and people will just accept it.

Meaning Trump will be one of the main ones in power. They're already postponing primaries and will 100% postpone them longer and potentially the general election too.
But if the dems beat Trump itll be with Biden cuz they wont nominate Bernie, so its the same scenario either way. Biden and Trump are both authoritarian bitches of the oligarchs so it doesn't really make a difference.

another thing they're doing is now pushing for UBI to mitigate the fact people will be out of work. in canada they're essentially preparing the way for this by changing how EI (employment insurance) benefits get paid out, essentially opening the door for anyone to get instantly get EI payments coming in without the usual hoops and requirements for looking for work etc.
what will happen in 6 months if people still can't return to work normally, and their EI payments are running out? the government might just start giving people money, and even propose a permanent UBI.
as another user mentioned above, they will potentially use this as an opportunity to transition society to a cashless, digital only currency. if the economic crash is bad enough they might even roll out a global currency digital currency.
