Seconded. Parents blame teachers for their kids' bad behavior. Parents expect teachers to teach students how to behave. When I say parents, it's almost always single moms. They find every reason to blame you for their children acting up. It makes me wonder what will happen when we go back to class. Will our students go ape shit or will they be scared and finally listen to us?

Things were getting bad when I was in college, I saw the handwriting on the wall, and changed my major from secondary education. In a way I regret doing it - I really wanted to teach accelerated English. But, my way of life doesn't really seem to exist anymore outside of private schools.

The "strenth" of diversity (yes, we no longer use the "g" in strength - it's now pronounced "strenth") has crashed down hard on the schools. White and black kids who didn't used to hate each other now don't get along well at all, or if they do, the white kids cowtow, play stooge, or go full wigger. We've so many illegals in the schools now that the language barrier IS REAL. And depending on what part of the country you live in, you've got classrooms packed with Somalis and other third-world odds and ends. Kids are seeing little to no discipline at home anymore and are neglected. Maybe both parents slave away at work and come home exhausted and sack out in front of the television. Maybe they don't have a dad, and mommy eats bullshit all day in front of the television. Or, maybe they're a super special protected third-world victim class, and know they can get away with murder, and take full advantage of it.

Public schools are to a point where it's basically a daycare. These kids are contained there for a certain amount of hours in a day and fed. Their educations largely consist of being trained to perform well on tests so schools can maintain funding, rather than actually teaching the kids. And teachers are strongly discouraged from flunking these kids. The schools don't want bad press from uppity minority moms.

Teachers carrying the workload your wife was supposed to carry, which she can't because she also has a job, is a symptom, not the cause. The teachers are human like you and many of them have children of their own. Educate yourself.
Teachers are the ones who can force change in government because once they stop working the kids are fucked and the workers are fucked and therfore the government is fucked.
Teaching used to be a prestigious profession, once we go back to that teachers won't have to pull stupid bullshit.
