>Your house is on fire, and the people whom you have trusted with your care are not trying to put it out. Even though they knew it was coming, and could see what happened to the neighbours as they were overwhelmed with terrifying speed, the UK government has inexplicably chosen to encourage the flames, in the misguided notion that somehow they will be able to control them.
>We talk about vaccines generating herd immunity, so why is this different? Because this is not a vaccine. This is an actual pandemic that will make a very large number of people sick, and some of them will die. Even though the mortality rate is likely quite low, a small fraction of a very large number is still a large number. And the mortality rate will climb when the NHS is overwhelmed. This would be expected to happen, even if we make the generous assumption that the government were entirely successful in restricting the virus to the low-risk population, at the peak of the outbreak the numbers requiring critical care would be greater than the number of beds available. This is made worse by the fact that people who are badly ill tend to remain so for a long time, which increases the burden.
Everyone with more than two brain cells knew this when they made the announcement. Fucking monkeys run the entire Anglosphere.

We have a political culture that's all about making things look good while not taking any decisive action.
Our health care started straining at around 900 cases of covid-19, so the new guideline is not to test anyone that doesn't need immediate hospitalization.
We're all going to get it. We'll survive or we wont.

Yes, but you can't develop immunity to coronaviruses
Covid-19 will be recurring every season just like the common cold and the flu
Aiden Miller
>but you can't develop immunity to coronaviruses Yes you can, that's how you recover from an infection. That immunity, however, does not necessarily work on other strains of the virus.

You do understand the point is to ensure the weak and the old won't die off, right? There the group that receives the herd immunity from the greater populaces immunity.

What is the real difference, if any, between "flatten the curve" and "herd immunity"? Its the same thing
John Brown
No that's survival of the fittest. Come on man, Charles Darwin was from YOUR country, how do you not know this?
Alexander Hughes
right but this means having the old and weak in isolated bunkers for 6 months that's just not practical it's better, easier, and quicker to just let them all die off straight away plus then that opens up the housing markets and potentially opens up new job opportunities
Ayden Myers
Herd immunity is one way to flatten the curve but not the only one. It's basically just a subset of a larger class. Quarantine and hand washing are other ways to flatten the curve and are more effective in this case since vaccines for this strain of coronavirus are only just starting to enter clinical trials.
Asher James
The tories want old people to die, because they see them as nothing but a burden to society. If only they'd figure out how to make money out of it, we'd be seeing mass culling of the elderly happening in Britain.
It's just they simply don't have the hospitals and medical services to attend the outbreak because le 350 gorrillion moneys Boris was going to throw onto their health services as soon as Brexit happened are not going there for some mysterious reason, so they'll just hide under that shitty narrative for retards.
Which is fine for me. I only demand they stay in their lovely island enjoying rampant coronachan and we make sure to quarantine their island so that no briton or anyone from there enters here to spread their cancer.
Herd immunity just means that as the number of immune individuals go up the probability of non-immune individuals of getting infected goes down. It's simply a matter of there being fewer opportunities for the virus to spread. It's a statistical phenomena.
Flattening the curve is more about avoiding massive spikes of new cases, so that they don't overwhelm the healthcare system.
Andrew King
I am not looking out for vaccines I am looking out for better treatments myself. FDA won't approve any of the treatments because they are retarded and make you wait weeks if not months if not years for approval on anything medical related but at least treatments can save people in the nations with balls.
I think quarantine is more about containment, getting R0 below 1 like China etc did.
Jonathan Lopez
this would be credible if old people weren't the ones contunually voting them in

It looks like the jannies of Yas Forums have gone from the deletion stage of coronavirus threads to the acceptance stage.
Charles Butler
There is no treatment. It's a virus. It cannot be cured. Your only option is to try and prevent yourself contracting it. If that fails your only option is to let the virus run its course and manage the symptoms as best you can.
Some anti-viral drugs exist but most only work on very specific strains and generally require you to start administering them within a day or less after the onset of illness to be most effective, even then they don't tend to work terribly well, nothing like antibiotics. And none of this even matters anyway since there's no anti-viral for COVID-19 at the present time.
Asher Jackson
Not all treatment means cure. There are treatments, you listed some.
Thomas Edwards
>Get immunity by getting sick first Absolutely brilliant. This is not fucking chickenpox.
Isaiah Richardson
Well I'm not really sure what he meant by "better treatments for himself" then. Everyone should know by now that you should minimize contact with other people and wash your hand thoroughly by this point. Since vaccines aren't out yet there's literally nothing else you can do until this pandemic either starts to wane, a vaccine is released, or you get sick.
Nathan Lewis

From what I've read, particularly from the Lancet article, it appears to be capable of correlated loop chains, long-term dichroitic inhibition and innate caspase structures. Its von-Wille pathophysiological agents sub-units exhibit non-toxic repair dysgenesis utilizing phospholipid functional kinase. This is in line with novel medial dismustase and active catalytic time-course but surprisingly its non-androgenic caspase traffic seems similar to short-term wild-type proliferation though if it's capable of ectopic negative transcriptome and can endure equal unilateral stress, it's not unusual.
If its specific epidemiological expression engineered arrayed kinase coagulates strongly with unregulated triplex mutant retroposon moderate positive transposon then engineered non-covalent chains should be applicable for a potential cure issuing generic experimental mutagenesis with phospholipid proteomic modifications.

This social darwinistic, de-facto eugenics plan is the best possible solution. Other countries like Japan and the Nordics are essentially doing it too, we're just being blunt about it. Lock downs haven't worked in Italy or China (who is now just waiting for it to burn out too) nor do they address getting reinfected by the outside world if they even do, whilst grinding your economy to a halt. Ideally the upcoming weather and finding a vaccine speeds up the herd immunity process. Stop being a whiny Guardian-reading titty baby.

If you try to slow it down you increase the likelyhood of a vaccine before too many get infected.
Hudson Baker
>try to slow it down >try You said it yourself. No country has been successful in doing so (unless you believe the Chinese Communist Party's figures). Cases are still booming in Italy despite the total lock-down. I've already stated this.
Ayden Brown
much more effective measures can be taken, they are just too poor to do it
Henry Long
>(unless you believe the Chinese Communist Party's figures) At the risk of being to replied to with ">flag" or something similar, is there any reason not to? Granted the CCP is obvious completely dishonest in many cases, but in this specific case I don't see how they could fake an epidemic recovery, seeing as Chinese zoomers are pretty much all on social media, not to mention manufacturing and exporting has picked up again.
Samuel Walker
China only got their numbers down by absolute lockdown, even stopping people leaving for work unless it was hospitals or police. People aren't even allowed to leave their residential block because the numbers were still rising 2 weeks into their lockdown. As soon as you set foot out of your door you were greeted by police.
There's also that footage of Chinese police welding doors shut, blocking buildings and roads with cars and shoving people back into their house. And do not believe anyone saying it's mild, health working with serious exposure to the virus of any sort die of any age. Plenty of young chinese doctors have died.
Alexander Nguyen
>is there any reason not to trust the communist party of China >Chinese zoomers are on western internet Either b8 or a severely unedecuted boomer

Problem is we still haven't closed borders with them. It's like a bomb waiting to explode.
David Stewart
They're not trying to intentionally infect everyone, they simply accept that the virus will spread and a vaccine won't be available any time soon. The best you can do is tell people to self-isolate if they show any symotoms or if they are vulnerable to dying from the virus (old or have pre-existing medical conditions). And people with symptoms are supposed to stay at home, not go to the hospital.
Matthew Ramirez
Notice how we speak in English and not Italian or Chinese

Elijah Garcia

By intentional exposing I meant intentionally not making enough of an effort to minimise the spread.
Jordan Richardson
The Bongloids are actually right. What are we going to lock everyone down for 6 months shutting down society only for someone else to catch it again and lock everyone down for another 6 months. Once enough young healthy people get the virus and recover it will start to flat line. Keep the old retiree pensioners at home until then.
Brayden Harris
You could have prevented this. Their lives are on your hands.
>NOOOOOOOO! YOU HAVE TO PANIC Kys amerigoblo subhuman.
Lincoln James
We're already telling people to wash their hands frequently and properly, telling anyone who remotely displays symptoms to self-isolate, advising against travel and large gatherings. What else do you expect? Do you think the entire population should quarantine themselves for 12 months and pray that someone develops a vaccine? (even though no-one will be able to work on developing a vaccine since they're stuck at home)
Old people will die and young people will get sick. I legit think the Tories just want pensioners to die to ease the pension crisis even if it hurts their party in the short term. As soon as millennials inherit the boomers property they'll soon become good Tories too.
Elijah Bennett
No you quarantine them to drastically reduce the peak of people with the disease. Think of a short fat bell curve instead of a tall skinny one. With a reduced peak the number of people needing to go to hospitals is sustainable and you can prevent people dying from the disease. Waiting for the cure has nothing to do with quarantine.
Levi Gray
Based. I wish that was possible here. Most boomers are getting reverse-mortgages or selling their homes to mega corporations for cash and then moving into apartments.
Samuel Garcia
I can only hope for your sake that corona kills off all the tories first before you get to that point, maybe if we're lucky Rupert will kick the bucket soon and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
Connor Jones
Do brits realize that the coronavirus can create permanent damage? Not only there is the risk of lung damage, there is also the risk of contracting PVF / CFS or whatever it's called in your country, it already happened with SARS, it's not a wild speculation.

Don't fool yourself m8, the Islamic Socialist Labour Party was raped out of relevancy in the GE. They're not getting in power for at least decade and that's assuming they reform. Too late to go into it but the Labour party has been taken over by the far left so the party members are just going to keep voting for far left nutters who the general public hate. Unless they go centre left and stfu about their London middle class centric social issues they'll keep getting battered in elections. A similar thing happened until Tony Blair became leader and he dragged the party to the centre left.

If their crazy prime minister is not in jail at the end for the gross mishandling of this crisis, i'd be shocked.

Nathaniel Phillips
Social media and the internet has destroyed society’s ability to communicate effectively about literally anything
Justin Long
more worthless people are you going to say asthamics are at risk too?
Aaron Adams
That's not their plan or how herd immunity immunity works. They want the most resistant young people to eventually get it. Most of these people require no advanced medical care and once enough people get it and recover the virus will stop spreading. The most vulnerable can then come out from self isolation with minimal fear of getting it because the spread has stopped. Spanish flu was never cured and it still goes around today but at such a limited rate because herd immunity.
>and they will all be 60+ No, that's not how the virus works. Anyone with a compromised immune system will need hospitalization if they contract it. >people with diabetes >the elderly >people autoimmune problems >people who have to take immunosuppressant because of transplants >pregnant women may experience immune system shifts during pregnancy >etc. This 60+ is a major meme.
Austin Collins

Why don't they take the stellar example that Spain is setting on battling the virus?
Aiden Johnson

Yes but that is my point. Non-boomers will continue spreading it no matter how long you keep the boomer faggots in quarantine. You need to either test or develop a vaccine.

Adrian Parker
Young people in physical labor aren't dieing from it. How long can China and South Korea self isolate the entire population? Are we gonna start doing this for the regular flu also just because the most vulnerable might die from it?

>there is medicine for the regular flu symptoms to be controlled >there are vaccines for the flu Hmm let's see COVID19. >no vaccine >no medicine to control the symptoms and how they treat you if you are a severe case is ventilate your lungs so you don't drown by your lungs filling with fluid. Yeah COVID19 is just like the flu...until it isn't.
Ok then just put a limit on over time but most people in hard labor are healthier than the average sedentary person
Ian Gutierrez
>Are we gonna start doing this for the regular flu also just because the most vulnerable might die from it? Yuros probably want this.
Ryder Turner
Don't forget that ventilators are also prime sources of bacterial superinfection
Robert Davis
Well, you either die from drowning or get an infection. At least the bacterial infection can be treated with antibiotics. So i'm guessing you'll be pumped with antibiotics from the get go. So it's better than drowning.
Yeah and bongs aren't asking for these types of people to get coofed on. Most people between 0-55 require no treatment. Flu vaccines aren't all encompassing they only cover a limited amount of stains also. And flu viruses over time get weaker as more deadly strains kill too quick and can't spread as broadly.
That's not how mutations work. A mutation that would invalidate all of the research done to this point is pretty much impossible without external help.
