If you have access to shotgun shells you can make a zip gun for them.
Alternatively if you buy a 100 dollar welder from harbor freight(or some other cheap place) you could build a diy sten gun. Also look up “sheet metal derringer pdf” on google if all you have is a drill and get the proper reamer to make a smooth note for whatever cartridge you decide to use.

Don't go for something like that to defend yourself if you aren't really familiar with using it though. Use your wits, outsmart and ambush or run if you are against people with firearms.
