Kraut doc from a large southern German hospital here. Heading out for my nightshift soon. AMA
(I wont give anymore details pertaining to my exact location, we've been advised not to talk to the press so i suppose this includes anonymous surinamese bandana knittting forums)
How many Muzzies are infected? A large or smaller percentage based on their share of the population?
William Sanchez
We only had a handful of cases, none are seriously ill. As of ethnicity, it seems pretty even at the moment. But our sample is too small to make generalizations. Most people are boomers though. To answer to all the shizos right from the start: we have no info that blacks are immune and none on male infertility. Not ruling it out but no indications to that effect whatsoever.
Asher Gomez
I heard Germans are still indifferent about this flu. Is it true? Why is there so much lax in preparation?
Dylan Wright
Have you seen anything close to cytokine storm yet
Generally speaking, is this something only the elderly should seriously worry about?

What are the procedures when someone is first admitted for corona? Do they try to get a good idea of how many people they've been in contact with? How likely is the average german to go to the doctor for a flu?
Most people i know are pretty chill and joke about it. But this does not count for the people coming to our hosppital. They are hysterical. I phones in the ER keep ringing with crying people thinking they'll die because their nose is running. We had fights between patients over who gets to see a doc first, we haf massive theft of disinfectant sprays and toilet paper. My supermarket has been out of TP for several days now.
Generally speaking the virus is not "that" deadly. If you are young and otherwise healthy your chances of making it are pretty damn high. Your risk increaees with age and comorbidities but that is the same with every illness. So for the individual the risk is manageable and nobody needs to panic But The virus is highly contagious, so it can potentially infect billions. Even with a 1% lethaloty that eill translate into millions of deaths. So all the quaranteen measures and shit down of public life are justified to mitigate the economic damage. Our whole system stands on such weak foundations, a month or so of the majority of the workforce not going to work spells disaster in many ways, mostly economically. At the moment we have enough capacities to treat but should the cases increase drastically and we run out of ICU beds then a vicious circle starts spiraling downwards where first we cant treat all the corona patients and soon after we cant treat any other illnesses because our capacities are overloaded.
We advise people not to come to the hospital when in doubt. We've inplemented at home testing and have a tent in front of out clinic where we screen people. If you tested positive the authorities try to figure out everyone you've been in contact with. But as cases rise this will soon be impractical. It is actually amazing and terrifying at the same time how they managed to track down people so far
Jace Stewart
Just curious how the response has been by the hospitals in your area?
Here in the southeast we have massive hospital systems going into a full quarantine because we don’t have the surge capacity or resources to adequately care for everyone. > all non-essential personnel are banned > visitation is restricted for all patients > all entrances are locked down except for the ER where all people aside from staff are funneled through and screened for COVID-19 The scariest part is I know we don’t have the resources to help everyone once the virus spread has peaked.
They keep telling us not to panic, but id say we are about a month from running out of PPE and running out of rooms.

We cancelled all non essential procedures on Friday, lasting for God knows how long. Hospital is closed to visitors, entrance only with employee ID. Screening tent in front of the hospital, hired extra security and transformed one ward into an isolation ward. No cases on our ICUs yet.
We still have capacities but my city has around 100 ICU beds. That is never enougj for any large scale outbreak of anything. Stay safe Burger MD

If so, I know a lot of the immunology people there. Good luck.
Nathan Watson
Do you speak Schwäbisch? Is it hard to understand?
John Roberts
Schwäbisch is the second most disgusting german dialect after Sächsisch. I wont talk about my whereabouts but i am proud enough to not let you think that i am a froogle swabian.
Joshua Ross
Yeah, right now for us it’s the calm before the storm it seems. Recently in the last 3 years all the hospitals and outpatient clinics got bought by a large healthcare conglomerate and the first thing they did was cut budgets and sell off any unused equipment. As a result we are woefully unprepared for a bus wreck at most Emergency Depts, let alone a large scale virus that is dangerous for anyone over the age of 60.

Health care does not belong in the hands of for profit companies. Fags on this board may disagree but it is the truth. Ot always leads to budget cuts and this will bite us in the ass hard once a pandemic strikes. More and more clinics here are gettong privatized too and working conditions there are abysmal.
It is the best medicine after all.

I smoke since 10 years, between 10-20 joints/day + half a pack of cigarettes. I mostly smoke in basement where there's no ventilation. Often i sleep in the basement full of smoke. My lungs are fucked but i never checked them. Am I at risk ??? Is it a commorbitiy to you ???
Yes, smoking and any chronic lung issues drastically increase your chances of having complications. Same with any respiratory illness.
Do yourself a favor and quit smoking tobacco and weed. It does nothing but hurt you. And yes, weed is associated with plenty of conditions, my personal favorite is heavy marijuana usage is associated with intractable nausea/vomiting, low testosterone levels and low sperm counts.
Carter Morris
This paper says nothing about infectuons but talks about treating pulmonary edema.
Yes that is a comorbidity. Your lungs are damaged and more prone to get further damage and ventilation might be harder on you. Plis it fucks with your immune system and clearance of the lungs. It is by no means a death sentence but it migjt be harder on you than non smokers. Smoking in general is bad, i dont need to tell you that. If you want to consume cannabis try vaping.
Elijah Brown
The Chinese protocol recommends 50-200 mg/kg IV of Vitamin C per day to help with oxygenation. Are you going to use that on your patients? Here is a copy machine translate and print it out mp.weixin.qq.com/s/bF2YhJKiOfe1yimBc4XwOA
Asthmafag here, how fucked am I even if it's mild?

Thanks, i shit myself but they won't test me. What are your best advices to heal from a pneumonia ? or what are the things to avoid when having a pneumonia? also How fast can a 'mild' case degenerate ?
Jayden Brooks
Higher risk than a healthy person, not as high risk as a long time smoker or COPD patient.
Hunter Gomez
Panic. It’s always the panic. My area is a powder keg, 1 major issue away from becoming the intro scene to the last of us.
Thomas Long
What is a COPD patient ?
Liam Cox
It's hard to give an accurate prognosis for any individual but generally speaking lung diseases increase your risk. Mild asthma is not a death sentence but your risk is higher. No need to panic but these comorbidities may take you longer to recover or cause more severe complications.
Vitamin C as a miracle cure for anything is a meme. Sure your levels need to be correct and high enough but it wont do the trick. Vit C has been said to cure anything from cancer to pubic lice and it never lived up to the hype. But at least it doesnt do any damage if you supplement it.
Humans are by far worse. The kind of irrational behaviour i've seen this week makes me worried and sad. I wonder what will happen if a truly dangerous killer viris spreads. One thing is for sure, i'm applying for a gun loicense on Monday.
Quite unlikely but we dont know a lot still yet, so all info is subject to change.
Alles Gute, Bruder.

did shifts lengthen yet? are there talks of emergency containment plans i.e. what do if there is a large group suddenly getting symptomatic at once?

My country is fucked. Our health care is slow as fuck on a good day and our cuck pm hasnt even stopped flights from china yet
Evan Clark
>Vitamin C as a miracle cure for anything is a meme When did I say it was a miracle cure. They are using it to help with oxygenation and say so in the protocol. Will your fellow doctors even try what the Chinese have found to be successful? Or will you ignore what the Chinese have concluded based on all of the people they are treating?
Mason Peterson
Fuck here is part of it they suggest its use a few times along with other drugs >6. Prevention and treatment of cytokine storm: It is recommended to use large doses of vitamin C and unfractionated heparin. Large doses of vitamin C are injected intravenously at a dose of 100 to 200 mg / kg per day. The duration of continuous use is to significantly improve the oxygenation index. The use of large Dose of the broad-spectrum protease inhibitor ulinastatin, given 1.6 million units, once every 8 h, under mechanical ventilation, when the oxygenation index> 300 mmHg can be reduced to 1 million units / d. Anticoagulation can be taken The treatment protects endothelial cells and reduces the release of cytokines. When FDP ≥10 µg / mL and / or D-dimer ≥5 μg / mL, heparin (3-15 IU / kg per hour) is given anticoagulation. Heparin is used for the first time. The patient's coagulation function and platelets must be re-examined 4 h later. ISVVH is used for 6 to 10 h every day.
Mason Hernandez
Diarrhea isn’t a super common symptom, I think it’s only in like 15% of cases.
Are you healthy otherwise? If so, you probably won’t even develop pneumonia, but if you do outpatient antibiotics will do the trick.
Try and avoid the hospital unless you absolutely have to go. Just by being admitted it increases your risk of complication, this is in general not just related to the virus. Go to the hospital if you experience severe shortness of breath, chest pain or labored breathing. If you aren’t deathly ill then your family doctor can treat the pneumonia.
Kayden Miller
Do infected people usually develop huge amounts of phlegm and is this an indicator for an infection?
Liam Long
If I have mild allergic asthma, will I die? I’m 30 and a neet from years, not fit but I’m 180 cm x 65 kg

My gf's best friend is a doctor in the Ruhrpott and based on their conversations she displays a common German (shared in large part by the Dutch) absurd sentiment. She was in Venice like 7 weeks ago and is now telling herself (and others) that the two days she spent vomiting with mild cold symptoms upon returning were the corona virus and thus that it is nothing to be afraid of. Of course she bolsters this argument with her MD status. Yet on the other hand she is a germophobe and always has weeks worth of food in her apartment.
Bentley Torres
haha scheisse ich bin auch aus bawü
Lucas Ward
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. It’s essentially a terminal disease of the lung caused by decades of damage from smoking. It makes it difficult to breath and you’re at higher risk for developing pneumonia. Vitamin C “megadose” will do nothing for You unless you already have a vitamin c deficiency, which is probably why it was working in China.
Jonathan Torres
do you know any long term health effects of getting corona? Gibt es einen Beschädigung der Lunge durch Corona? oder ist das nur so wenn man 6 Wochen eine Lungenentzündung hat, dass das einfach schlecht für die Lunge ist?
None of our patients had a cytokine storm, in fact most are pretty well. But as of now we have not used Vit. C.
Lots of phlegm is more associated with bacterial infections. Only way to know for sure though is getting tested.
You'll.probably be fine if you are otherwise healthy but asthma is a risk factor and migjt drag out the infection or cause more severe complications but mild allegic asthma shouldnt be to tough on you.
I studied in BaWü hence i got my approbation from there.
Too early to say anything about long term damages.
Lucas Thompson
IF a deadlier mutation shows up how bad damage will become in your eyes?

You estimate lethality (not mortality) at 1%? Damn...
fuck me stop closing your borders I need to go see gf
Brody Kelly
We joke at work that someone is playing a game of Plague inc. here. Now he'll spend his points on increasing lethality of the virus. Sure, a mutation can always happen but no way of telling you how that will play out without knowing what the mutation actually mutates.
Chase James
Am I still at risk if I moderatly smoked for 3/4 years before stopping 5 years ago? I guess I am but i'm just curious whether I've drastically reduced the risks
Christopher White
Thanks, How long until you run out of protective gear?
My english is not that good, i may confuse terms here when translating. We were told it may be around 1% but it is not clear at the moment.
Angel Peterson
How severe is it really? Why is everyone freaking out?
Eli Miller
i meant i'm afraid I have coof, chest pain, shortness of breath. They won't even test me here. I called 3 times they told me to stay the fuck home. I feel like a pneumonia is building
I remember that the virus is highly mutable and if it manages in a single mutation to become busted its pretty scary
But atleast you are not in brazil german bro,we are getting mutatnts coming from bats that i'm sure
Joshua Rodriguez
>You'll.probably be fine if you are otherwise healthy but asthma is a risk factor and migjt drag out the infection or cause more severe complications but mild allegic asthma shouldnt be to tough on you.
I never had in my life am asthma attack but sometimes I cough and my lungs react to something like deodorant spray etc and I cough so I take my ventolin, but I don’t have difficulties breathing. It’s the dry cough and tickling chest that requires the ventolin.
When other people have the flu I have massive strong dry cough which amplifies everything, but still no real asthma, just mild difficulties which I threat with ventolin and fluticasone. Have prednisone for emergencies, never used it.
