When an actual disaster hits we are unimaginably fucked.

You know they're going to make more right?

You cannot make more to cope with the panic demand. It takes weeks to normalize supply.

Monday is a giant order is coming in.

I went out and stocked my shelves yesterday. I am not panicked by the virus but I am panicked by the panic. I just don't want to be the guy who shows up next week and has nothing to choose.

they ordered more weeks ago. huge bulk orders.

yes that's the thought of most people too, but you have to realize that shelves get restocked within a week. Only an actual apocalypse would stop that.

Empty shelfs for a few days gets more people into panic extending the empty shelf problem after restocking. We have had empty shelfs for all kinds of things for 2 weeks now on and off.

As a result of the unusually long incubation time of this virus,~24days, there is an off chance that some companies experience staffing shortages all at once in the coming weeks. Like everyone could be walking around with it and not know it.
If this happens, major supply lines could be interrupted and essential services like power, transit, hydro could be temporarily shut down because of a lack of workers, skilled or non-skilled.
This is a real threat.
