It's an interesting thing. The show is gratuitously vindictive, to the point where I know several people who dropped the show because they don't like watching that vindictiveness lived out on screen. I wonder if it's just an issue of the offense fading too far into the past and the new "revenge" starting to seem more like its own aggressive new action than a response to the offense. There's only so much you can do to dress up the process of hunting down fleeing, elderly combatants and murdering them in an ambush well after they gave up the fight.
