As for the girlfriend, she said they awoke to the sound of the window breaking and confirmed police came into their bedroom and that is when her bf was shot and she was hit.

This kind of raid is risky especially when police use a breaching shotgun because people inside heat gunshots, not knowing it's just the front door being forced. Waking up to window breaking and loud bangs will cause anyone to reach for a gun.
