Quick question pol and apologies since this virus and the data is new, my mom is 53 years old with diabetes, relatively healthy, not obese, always watches what she eats, no upper respiratory issues, and takes Vitamin C + D daily. Could she get through this without hospitalization if she contracts the virus?

I have a bad feeling for my father as he is 67 years with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and a former smoker. Not sure if we would be able to get through it without hospitalization.

Parents and brother barely go out for social events and stay at home even before the virus. A little dark, but I'm at peace with the fact that my father might pass without hospitalization.

20% of cases require hospitalization so it's likely they might as the spread increases. Just make sure they understand the risks of going out and that if they do go out take the necessary precautions to stop infection. Until a state/country wide quarantine happens that will be the best you can do. I'll pray for you and your family user.

user let me answer this the best I can, I am not a doctor though there are some here. Not every person who is old needs hosptilization. This is very much on luck.

Diabetes, CV disease, put people at risk, yes. Age is also a factor, yes. Smokers have weaker lungs so that is also a factor. But from what the Chink data suggests, when elderly people get it, it hits them hard - in general.

Please ask them to maintain a social distance. The best idea right now is to try and reduce their chances of getting it. Put them in self-isolation if you can, and wait it out. We dont know whats in store or how long this will last.

I am hopeful that they are going to make it through this. Its good that you are at peace with life and death - I struggle with it immensely.

My dad is 85, mum is 55. Both have high blood pressure and my mother has diabetes and asthma. Dad used to smoke 1-2 packets of ciggs per day until he was like 65 and he still works out and runs a couple times a week, but I don't know what to think. They have heeded my advice to stay quarantined and isolated but not sure how long this can last.

Vitamin C user the chinese are using 200 mg/kg IV per day to help with oxygenation and it is suspected to have anti-viral properties as well.
You probably can't IV but start with 1g oral ascorbate every 90 mintues. If they get sick increase the dosage till they develop loose stools then decrease below that and you have found the maximum dose.
