It doesn't kill it, it just sterilizes it.
T. Emergency Dept. Nurse

It kills all the good bacteria so your body can't naturally fight back against Covid-19

70/30 alcohol (ethyl of isopropyl) and water is all you're over paying for, you can get it at any hardware store by the gallon for much less, mix with any moisturizer if you're a faggot.

High % Alcohol sanitiser is better against bacteria which are generally easier to disrupt as viruses are "cellular machinery" sort of which can make them hardier, so instead of just being "killed" it has to be destroyed enough that the virus denatures sufficiently as to not be infectious (which alcohol can do)

Basically it helps, but should only be used as a last resort ie out in the field where handwashing with surfactant (soap or hand-wash) and water that will actually get it off your skin can't be done, or should be supplemented by handwashing proper

It kills bacteria and not viruses i.e. Covid-19. Purell is an instant hand sanitizer made of ethyl alcohol with is not an virucide.

would everclear + glycerin work?

No, but gasoline will and is a couple bucks a gallon.

Retards still can't tell the difference between bacteria and viruses

Hardware stores are sold out here, first place I tried after the pharmacy

i'd say so, adjust for the level of proof, but 70/30 from what i've read is the right ratio as water is needed for it to break down the cell walls or whatever, im not a biologist.

dont buy masks because it's useless (but hospitals need them) just wipe your hands,,
for a shit that you get through mouth, nose and eyes

Luckily here Isopropyl alcohol isnt as widely known of/used here in the home as a disinfectant, I know its common in the US so there was plenty when I picked some up last week, they've only really started stocking it in the past few years so its a little under the radar

what about dichlorobenzyl alcohol in throat lozenges? prophylactic after suspected exposure?

I hear soap is better since it literally breaks down the virus. Viruses are made with a layer of fat and soap is known for breaking down fat.

It's important for nurses and shit, you don't need it

>(((information)))
it kills your wallet if you buy it now, no virus though

No, regular soap is better.
Sanitizer is mostly for when you aren't going to be able to spend a lot of time washing your hands, or for people who have to wash their hands a lot (like multiple times per hour consistantly), as it actually dries your skin out less then regular soap, long-term anyways.

A friend of mine moved to Missouri and says "we cant get toilet paper, purell, alcohol, flue medicine, face masks!!!! we are all going to die!!!!" I just went to Fred Meyer and just bought the shit. This is what it's like to live in a state that is a freedom loving non leftist fucking shithole

Alcohols are a powerful denaturant of proteins. When proteins lose their structure, they stop working. Viruses are made of proteins. Yes, it works.

No cell walls in viruses but the effective concentration (70-90% wbv) should be the same. Less than 50% is ineffective.

If you use 90% or higher it dries your hands out instantly, I use to use it at work all the time.

Yes, but you have to drink it

alcohol only works for protein encapsulated viruses, coronavirus is a virus with protein capsule so alcohol will work. There are other alternatives like 10% bleach or BKC

CV is lipid encapsulated actually but alcohol should still denature membrane glycoproteins. But yes, bleach is an alternative although less practical than hand sanitizer.

I don't know but ive been huffing lysol non stop starting to get a bit woozy

Yes, but watered down denatured alcohol will be cheaper.

Purell is not just alcohol it's also powerful solvents that dissolve viral coatings. That's why purell will eat through your latex, nitrile, or neoprene gloves. It's a very strong blend of solvents.

Purell and Alcohol WILL combat the virus by dissolving its coating which will prevent it from bonding to your cells and thus replicating. BUT it's not as good as a blend.

That's why it only "kills 99.97% of viruses!" .03% can still infect you. You want multiple virucidal actions, and for that reason you can use liquid iodine in alcohol (tincture of alcohol) just 3% is enough. Add ethyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol together too if you want to increase its potency even more.

Or you can use bleach. Do not combine bleach with alcohol as it reacts to create chloroform gas. Bleach you have to use on its own. If you have equipment you can do a two-phase decontamination. First phase alcohol, second phase bleach after the alcohol evaporates.

i know it kills bacteria but i keep seeing ppl on tv say use it for the virus but then i read posts on Yas Forums saying it doesnt do shit against the virus

If masks are useless why do hospitals need them. Tell me more

KEK, I have access to industrial ethanol at work and have been using it for a while now.

So can we all agree that NOTHING WORKS unless youre wearing military grade NBC-gear like a russian operator?

Catch it ride it out and if the rumors of reinfection are true, well, everythings gonna end some day...

ive never heard of this shit or seen it in a lozenge.

there will be a great market for cybernetic internal organ in the future. Imagine not having to worry about corona ever again if you have cyber lungs

Look up the SDS, moron. It's alcohol.
You need training to use them correctly for something like this. If you've got some laying around in the shop for painting and such, go ahead an use them, but they will give you about 5% coverage and everyone else about 95% coverage from you.

The .03% is to account for user error, not inefficacy of the product. People inevitably miss spots when they’re cleaning surfaces or themselves.

It's a placebo. Better to have toilet paper, as that will be currency post collapse.

Why does it say isopropyl on my bottles of hand sanitizer?

Because isopropanol and ethanol work the same for this.

wash your hands for 20 seconds you lazy asses

To keep native Americans from drinking it.

>late to the game
you get what you fucking deserve
melbourne bunnings are stripped of isoproyl alcohol and metho

Soap is enough

Because we are legally obligated to wear them in a lot of situations so we don't coof into a surgery patient's open chest cavity or all over an IV bag that's going to be injected into your blood stream.
Masks can help a little with droplet spread so they are still worn when in contact with quarantine patients, but in those cases we wear them with a disposable gown as well and maintain a certain distance from the patient when we don't need to actively make contact with them.

Alcohol absolutely destroys the proteins/membrane around the virus.
It needs to bee in high concentrstion so it needs to be over 70% alcohol

wash your fucking hands
then use that on the go (work/transport etc)

More than .03% users use it wrong. If you use it wrong its effectiveness is 0%. Not 100% of viral coatings get dissolved.

>Look up the SDS, moron. It's alcohol.

>Be me
>Make thoughtful and accurate post to help others
>Get called a moron by a low IQ panictard lashing out like a dumb aggressive animal on a Wuhanese Wood Carving forum

Sasunga.

aint scared

>stocking up on immunosupressants

it is 70% ethyl alcohol and the rest is water and additives like isopropyl but non of those help against viruses.

There's something I've never understood with products that say they kill 99.99% of bacteria. Lets say I have 100 species of bacteria on a plate and I use a product that kills 99% of bacteria on the plate, does it kill all but one species completely, or 99% of every species evenly, leaving 1% of each?

Virus is lipid coated like sars, so yes

is lighter gel good substitute for hand sanitizer ? or do you have to mix it with something else first ?

SOAP

P

Attached: 45688a46.png (202x202, 56.98K)

soap simply washes the virus down the sink, doesn't matter if it kills it because it gets it off you

Except for the part where alcohol is poisonous
Fucking retard COOF to death

It kills your body's natural immune system that's for sure

Just let your body deal with germs by itself

viruses are not alive so nothing kills them.

Alcohol will denature the protein and effectively dismantle a virus though

Only if you squirt it up your ass faget

most viruses get fd by high concentration alcohol, yes.

only from your hands, which isnt different from regular soap

yeah in the EU we gotto sniff our vagina to immobilize viruses

>While the effectiveness of alcohol gels depends on the virus being targeted – which is why some alcohol hand rubs aren't very effective against norovirus – the coronavirus has an envelope structure which alcohol can attack. Hand sanitisers with more than 60 per cent alcohol content are most effective at killing microbes
wired.co.uk/article/alcohol-kills-coronavirus-myth-busting

yes

alcohol (in this, but really to be sure it has to be above 60% i think) and even soap kills viruses by breaking the outer membrain that keeps them together.

So yeah it works but using hot water and soap / sanitizer together is better

It does break the “skin” of the virus. So it does both.

I use hot water too.

all the pakistani merchants have bought out the uk's supply of hand wash and are selling it on ebay for £150-300 a litre.

a litre of actual alcohol that you can drink when it turns out you don't need it after all is £12. fucking mouthwash does the same job of cleansing your hands for £5 a litre of listerine.

how are people so retarded?!!!

Honestly you people laugh at toilet paper hoarders, but you really dont have enough toilet paper yourselves. The average person uses over 1 roll per day. If you have a family of 4, that's 30 rolls a week. Over 120 a month. TP rolls will be worth their weight in gold in a few months, because everyone needs it.

>The average person uses over 1 roll per day
on halloween

It does but soap and water is better anyways. So id say don't waste your shekels and just wash your hands

It's the latter.
Use soap instead.

those people are asking to get burgled

there was some govt video which said soap didn't kill it, but that soap would remove it from your hands so you had to be sure to wash all the soap away because it still carried the virus
fucked if I can remember where I saw that
