The way I see it, there are two different arguments for racism: Fist, the evidence-based one, or 'scientific racism'. Blacks are statistically less intelligent, more violent, etc. This was a fairly good model in the 19th century, but while it is still roughly accurate, we already have better ways of measuring traits than just skin colour and in the future we will probably have better ones. The only times you want to base policy on visual appearance and ancestry is when that is the only information you have. Going by this kind of racism, Nazism is incredibly stupid because it involved removing one of the best strains in the German gene pool. A good scientific racist would probably recommend interbreeding with Jews, not murdering them. The second kind of racism is what I would call 'strategic racism'. Because humans united in a common cause are generally more effective than individuals with nothing in common, we generally want to be part of a group so that we can avoid being victimised by other groups. From this perspective, Nazi ideology makes a certain amount of sense. It doesn't matter what the relative value of individual humans is, if they aren't in your group, then they are the enemy. You should try to define your group to include a lot of high-quality people and purge useless members, but if someone already identifies as part of a different group, especially one which is hostile to you, they are not a good choice to team up with even if they are really clever, productive and generally the kind of person you want in your group.
