I don’t completely disagree with this. A lot of my colleagues are grade-A smug assholes who are well educated in a narrow area but fucking clueless otherwise. But still think they are geniuses in everything. Dunning-Kruger effect is incredibly strong in the medical field.
On the flip side, there are those of us that are incredibly well-educated in our field and admit when we do t know something. We realize this and will do our best to learn if we come across things we truly don’t know. There are just far too many that stop learning after residency and coast along the rest of their practice lives.

What are your epidemiologists saying about the extremely variable R0 rates by country? I agree China likely just ceased reporting the real numbers, but somehow they're now reporting they're opening factories again. To me, that means one of two things:
1) They're forcing people to go back into factories, regardless of the status of the illness 2) They're not really re-opening factories, and they're pushing everything back 2 weeks to reduce global panic so more people can get to their bunkers
