yes, the recovery rate is high. A lot of young people present to the clinic. We tell them to self isolate for 2 weeks if positive and they make a full recovery. Illness is quite mild unless they are a fat fuck over 65 with heart and lung disease.

The rate of 20% pneumonia is bullshit. Only the elderly and infirm would be at an increased risk of this which is common amongst these people who get some chest infection and then get another infection superimposed over that.

We have been using droplet precautions in the clinic, so gown, gloves, regular surgical facemask and protective goggles. Based on some guidelines it sounds like we think its droplet but also remains on surfaces (how long i have no idea).

Close contact with infected persons seems to be enough for spread though.

yeah that doesn't sound that unreal. most people come in with sniffles, sore throat, headache, myalgia, cough, or some combination of these. It wouldn't suprise me if some develop pneumonia given they are already fighting one chest infection.

From other sources it seems the deaths are mostly due to stress on healthcare facilities.

one dude walked out of clinic before we swabbed him. Not sure why, maybe my instruction to wait for the nurse to swab him wasn't clear enough. We called him up but he's just fucked off. He was low risk, but still warranted testing.

I reckon we had at LEAST 2-3 who will likely test positive on my shift. I don't know how many we tested for the day. But we had over 200 patients come through i reckon

Literally most of the patients in clinic today were people who had come back from overseas in the past 2 weeks with some flu like symptoms. This is the criteria we test on, including whether they've been exposed to known cases.

Most of the people were men aged 20-60. literally all of them had some combination of cough, sore throat, runny nose, maybe myalgia, maybe fever. But which of those actually tested positive I'm not sure yet since it can take up to 5 days to get the results for some people depending on priority.

Of the one guy who definitely has it and his colleagues who are young electricians who are confirmed cases, its basically the symptoms I listed.

How do I maximise my chances of dying from this?

Not accurate at all, they are seeing a lot of mixed cases since we are starting flu season and theres plenty of other infections that cause mild symptoms, if they didn't test them to see if it was covid then they are making a false assumption.
