Oldfags, is this how 9/11 was like where society was practically shut down? I wasn't old enough to really know what was going on
Oldfags, is this how 9/11 was like where society was practically shut down...

No. I lived in Queens at the time... watched the towers burn with my own eyes from afar. This still doesn't feel even remotely close to as big of a happening as 9/11 was, but then again I'm biased. It may change in time though.
Oldfags? I thought everyone on this site was over 30 years old?
9/11 never happened.
Society came to a standstill for a day but IMO I've never seen the world shut down like right now. This is worse than 911 by orders of magnitude in how much society is just stopping
I was an alcoholic back then and even I felt the global terror that had been indicted. That shit was much bigger
May change in time, for sure.
I'm absolutely fascinated by your perspective, I can't imagine what that was like to see that go down. I heard that New York in general was super peaceful the day in a weird way
9/11 was nothing to the rest of the world. This is something to the world.
This user is right:
9/11 was an instant happening. America flags were everywhere. Muzzie hate was immediate. We didn't realize Israel did it yet. I was already in the military at the time and deployed almost immediately.
I was there for the Shock and Awe.
It was shut down for a day or two when there was only one plane in the sky. What we're facing is going to be much longer and much more devastating, because we can't just invade a virus like we did Afghanistan
no this is worse.
9/11 was sad and angry
this is 100% horror movie
This is armageddon, there is no comparison to this series of events
No, 9/11 was a comfortable, safe superpower being attacked from outside. We knew when the second tower got hit that America was at war, we just didn't know with who. It was terrifying, and unlike pearl harbor the whole thing was broadcast live around the world. Imagine a Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movie, where right in the background
2 passenger jets are used as missiles against downtown New York.
Israel did nuffing rong
I was still very young when 9/11 happened but it was definitely a more abrupt and significant happening in my life. It came out of nowhere and the country kind of shut down that day, but everything was pretty much back to normal the next day as far as normal operations of society. That event did pretty much shape my existence as an American from that day forward though from the national security perspective.
While this is something that obviously more people care about at the moment and it's having a more sustained impact on society, it's still blown way out of proportion and I think far more people will discuss 9/11 than the virus years down the road.
Holw old are you?
No, this is worse. Sure there was a lot of uncertainty and panic within hours of the attacks, and people were justifiably freaked out, but there was no sense of “the worst is yet to come” like there is with this.
This is 10x worse because 9/11 only shut things down in NY, and the eastern seaboard more broadly. Everywhere else in the US people watched TV more than usual and cried tears of opportunistic patriotism.
In this case, li-ter-al-ly everywhere in the US is grinding to a fucking halt.
like.... everywhere.. EVERYWHERE in the US is at like 50% of the NYC 9/11 response (Basically everything minus the structural damage of 9/11)
Arguably the one of the most significant nationwide events in modern history.
The financial crisis and this event are battling one another. I think this is worse.
Its worse because of the immediacy. The financial crisis was a slow progression of stock market crashes.
This is a raging gasoline powered dumpster fire lit by a match.
like one of those movies where a family is driving along happily singing and then gets their heads chopped off when they T-bone a tractor trailer.
Nothing actually shut down outside of NYC
The public reaction was way worse for 9/11
That shit was sort of controllable because humans did it. Just don't let any planes fly. It was hard to understand at the beginning why it happened but things got clearer with all the investigations going on.
But Corona? That's a completely different level. Not really controllable bc ppl are dumb and still spread it bc they believe 'it's just like flu' and or bc they are unaware that they are infected.
Society never shut down unless you lived or worked in lower Manhattan. Maybe things might have slowed down for days or weeks depending where you lived. This is more like after 9/11, as far as, who the fuck do you believe. The official story is bullshit, the politicians are incompetent, & the media is just using this shit for the ratings.
I wasn't even noticing 9/11 until 3 hours after the 2nd tower was down, kek. Was too busy working on my peer-to-peer electronic cash system, which took me another 8 years to finish it b/c I was furious missing this epoch-making event and couldn't calm down.
Didn't really see it go down. More like heard about it on the radio, turned on the news and then went outside after. Pic related was my perspective that day, taken from the top of a highway overpass close by where I lived. New York wasn't exactly peaceful after the attack. We were still afraid. I mean, even the Pentagon got hit that day. We never imagined anything like that could all go down the way it did. To say we felt vulnerable would be an understatement. Though, New Yorkers in general were more friendly to each other for months following the attack. It wore off, and everyone is just as rude now as they were before 9/11.
user is right, the closing shit down came on way too rapidly and suddenly for this to be business as usual. I'm betting within the next two weeks, cases will skyrocket as it hits critical mass, and people will be told to stop going to work altogether.

9/11 was nothing like this, especially for the rest of the world. In Aus it was shock and horror and life went on as per normal. Just a good conversation topic for most.
This shit is real and probably the closest to apocalypse that I've seen in my lifetime. I don't even remember SARS or swine flu generating this much buzz
we didn't shutdown.
just flights and transport areas really.
immediately flags went up.
patriotism rose.
every american was ready to kill a fuck that fucked with us.
people watched it on repeat with footage of ground 0 for months.
it's all that was talked about for months.
and became 1 of the biggest convos of the century. 2001-present.
looks like JEWS DID 9/11. now.
before we thought it was osama and his gang.
then the hijackers started popping up on the news... alive...
amazing..
the war on terror was bullshit.
probably all for israel from the look of it.
it's the jews.
smartphones are a result of 9.11...
facebook.. myspace..
all this "public" "identity" internet shit.
is a result of 9/11.
before then the rules were..
always stay anonymous...
etc.
now it promoted to put as much shit as possible on the internet.. fill it up with your life.
always stay wiretapped.. etc.
the computers, the televisions, the cars, the phones, the traffic cams, police cams, all of it.
biometric meta datas.
that is 9.11.
all this corona/stock market shit is, is bioand economic terrorism.
if they try rounding you up, no matter a police, a military, a fed, a doctor, an ambulance.. etc.
if they start taking away your neighbors, or come knocking on your door..
put a fucking bullet in them.
at least make it a 1:1
they're endgame is to do to us what the official story says they did to the jews..
and what history shows happened to the europeans..
100's of millions dead in a few years.
mass genocide.
they will collapse the markets, infect everyone, and let the world eat shit.
if they trying rounding you, senpai, or neighbors up, start shooting.
you will know theyre the enemy..
those fema coffins of 2015 or whatever..
thats what they want to put 1/2 the people in.
so democrap/pedocrat/ree-pubi-cunt.. whatever.
help your people shoot it out if they try getting you.
if you're an american, it's your constitutional duty to do that.
this is way bigger than 2 towers collapsing and a few days of panic.
9/11 much much bigger happening.
Plus add anger and deep sadness.
Not being able to trust your eyes at what you were witnessing. Surreal shit.
cool pic
Kind of.. to sports aficionados it is like 9/11
But Sept. 11th was worse because things were stopped immediately. Work was cancelled that day, school was also cancelled for that week at least. Authorities everywhere were on high alert.
When that happened people went paranoid immediately. With Corona it's the opposite, the worry is gradual. And they're STILL mishandling it letting all types of infected people come in.
Me and my older cousin went to go stake out a towel head church after 9/11.. their priests were outside looking left and right, watching and losing their shit. They thought they were going to get killed. They spotted us and got shook.
Anyway it's the closest thing zoomers will get to experiencing it but it's not quite there if you're from the US.
Plus..we have had time to watch this happening unfold.
9/11 was out of left field. One day of purr carnage and extreme happs.
Yes there were signs, yes there was a ton of research happs after. But also remember Internet and modern mobile phones were in today's standards slow and rudimentary.
Old fags
Haha imagine tapping out a happening via text on a Nokia 3310
Don’t lie leaf. Everyone new the moment it happened that America was going to go on a bloody warpath across the globe.
So like Sleepless Seattle, but this time you're Wide-Awake in Manhattan?
What I never got about 9/11 was that public sentiment should have forever turned against Islamic settlement in the west, strangely it was the opposite we were told to not be "Islamaphobic" as we suffered multiple repeat terror attacks while importing more and more poo people.
It didn’t. It was on the news and conversations like “you hear about that crazy disease?” “Yeah, messed up, but hey dude, check out the latest Jenna Jameson I torrented.”
No, this is the first time this has happened in any of our lifetimes. Novelty!
>New York in general was super peaceful the day in a weird way
Went to Paris for a walk after the Friday the 13th attack. It was indeed super peaceful in a weird way. Everybody were like ghosts, and comparatively very few people were out which added to the weird peace. But it was not alarming, it was soothing. I was coping hard then so I might be biased too.
I played the "muh terrorism" meme to get out of school for the day. It was back to normal the day after, just with more terrorism hysteria.
Because the globohomo propaganda started up before the rubble even cooled.
“This isn’t Islam.”
“Not all Muslims”
And “reports“ on CNN about bigoted attacks against innocent Sikhs because intolerant ignorant Americans were too stupid to know the difference but if they weren’t so bigoted it wouldn’t be a big deal.
9/11 was waaaay worse, in my opinion and there was no internet and less travel.
But this will result in less freedom.
>2 towers collapsing
3 towers.
all controlled demolitions btw
youtube.com
No. Everyone was nice and helpful to everyone else, even strangers. These days people want to slit each others throats
Nah business as usual and we were sending our boys out to kill sand niggers
That's wonderful to hear you
They tried building a mosque next to where the twin towers where.
>is this how 9/11 was like
Not at all
It was a day with a lifetime of changes but no one was buying shit like this its fucking retarded how bad this is
This is way way bigger unless you happened to be in New York City or by the pentagon or in an airplane on 9/11.
I was around for the end of communism and the fall of the Berlin Wall and this is even bigger than that.
It's flu
>t. Gandalf the gay
Not well known 9/11 story was the Korean Air flight destined to US and forced to land in Yukon, it was green lighted by our PM to be shot down by US air force when the Korean pilots, who spoke no english, decided to activate their hijack alert because they mistakenly thought the US flight authorities told them to. This was major news here at the time as our PM basically gave the go code over a phone to a squandron of US jets heading into our airspace armed
No user, this is worse
9/11 was a false flag and it was talked about 24/7 by the (((media))) claiming terrorists could be lurking anywhere in the world, and the USA began the Bin Laden scheme to find excuses for their deeds. Corona is a worldwide event, 9/11 was localized and didn't affect people's everyday life.
This is much much worse. 9/11 was 30 minutes of shock, and then a shit ton of propaganda. No flighs for a couple days I think. That was it. None of this locking down cities
No it isn’t. This’ll either be over in a few months, or we’ll end up in Spanish Flu all over again
US Gov:
>Hold my beer
>I was around for the end of communism
Wow the fact that you're on a Mongolian rope-making market is pathetic, Boomer.
Everyone was glued to the TV and radio. We were pissed and upset and everyone had a few weeks of solidarity. This is worse now and it’s going to get much worse
roger
This is so much worse than 9/11.
There's a pandemic that crosses countries infecting exponentially more people each day and if we don't shut down the global economy for 2 weeks, we'll have to accept this as normal until there is a vaccine.
This wont be over in a few months. A lot of leading politicians may die unless they sequester themselves from the outside world.
Meanwhile the obligations of having to control a tanking economy at the same time are insane.
The world has been a perpetual 9/11 since 9/11.
I was only 7 when it happened, but even I knew that thing changed the world.
Kids in the yard went from talking about beyblades to talking about elite banker scum fucking with our system and passing off 9/11 to kill some muslims.
We went from Limp Bizkit on the radio to soft garage rock, probably because people emotionally reacted poorly to 9/11 so much that they couldn't take harder metal. By 2009 I felt like I was in a different world to the adults, because they wouldn't accept how bad the situation was.
But this is my world. The world of hysteria. As I've always known it.
Pity old sods ignore it.
9/11 created blowback - anons.
You are obviously too young or live nowhere near NYC
Born in 81 live in CT this guy's right. 9/11 wasn't a slow moving disaster. I wasn't in the towers so I knew I was safe. Not this time
High school before Columbine was dope and air travel before 911 was way more chill. We really live in a sort of police state now.
Before 911 every restaurant and store didn't have a tv
No, 9/11 was a once in a lifetime happening. This isn't anything close.
