I spent $40 plus minus a bit to set up a fence for a puppy. It took five hours but that was because I have weak arms and weak shoulders and my mallet sucked and my posts sometimes split causing me to do double work (ramming posts into earth).
If I went all-out, I would spend $150 to make an enclosed area large enough for enough chickens to feed me for forever (if I was a starving Ecuadorian who only ate eggs). That doesn't include feed, of course.
If I did what my friend's parents did right away as soon as they obtained property in the USA, I'd spent (in materials and soil amendments and the like) a few thousand dollars to literally make enough to feed myself. They don't, not always. They make a lot more money on the side by planting and growing plants and trees and animals and stuff for cash.
If I did what you want, OP, I'd spend $20,000 on all of the following: - A 500 to 1000 square-foot enclosed home with a box frame (I presume add a little more money for a concrete foundation, but I despise concrete) - Double the practical square-footage with those french-style ceiling patio things for installing outdoor grilling and smoking and pizza oven and the like - Enough prepared land for unlimited chickens, goats and area to feed them. Many crops double to feed you and the livestock. - An aeroponics (it isn't really... it's like puddle-ponics) feed-growing station so that the animals get a higher-nutrition diet so that I get a higher-nutrition diet. - Horticultural stations on all wall space that is otherwise unused outside of the french-style patio
If I went absolutely insane, I absolute, positively could not imagine spending more than $75,000 for a multiple-acre property, 2,500 square-foot home of highest quality furnishing, massive garage, massive fucking everything, unlimited solarpanels, unlimited batteries, unlimited ozone-backed water storage....
Why don't I do it? The same reason you don't do it: money.

What about all the communes in California, or all the nazi communes in Northern California? Some of those are in somewhat inhospitable places, but the ones around Monterey are fairly well-to-do. As far as I know, they are usually almost exclusively white. To quote one of the probably now-dead white people from Cascadia, when asked if everyone was White, "Most of us are white, but we have blacks and hispanics as well, not very many, but they are certainly there, and we have Hindus and Muslims too, also not so many, but folks come from everywhere." From the 1950s on, many middle- and middle-upper-class families received pamphlets in the mail advertising "land for future progeny for cheap", all clustered around certain not-for-sale pockets in the middle of nowhere. Of course, decades later, no one ever bothered to settle on the land, but the regular American also couldn't settle because the land was owned with no real way to contact the owner. However, the little pocket was settled. This was a scheme, perhaps, to establish out-of-contact communes with a low probability of ever having any neighbors with agendas in a hundred-mile radius.

Likely those communes are owned by one individual or a single legal entity. If you offered up any of it for sale or rent, you'd have to abide by non-discrimination laws. For a commune, you can simply own it outright and not sell/rent any space in it. You invite in guests who must abide by your rules or be asked to leave. Even then, if they establish residency, you'd have to evict them through the courts. Nazi communes probably don't have a lot of casuals wanting to join so they sort of get away with it. You could also be like the Jewish town in New York that uses their kids to harass anyone who enters town that they don't like but the rules never really apply to Jews anyway.

And Congress has extended through the Civil Rights Act the equal protection under the 14th Amendment to the races, genders, etc.

When I take over the USA, every year I will organize a vast colonization army of likeminded people. For example mormons one year, libertarians another year, people who want weed legalized another year, environmentalists another year. You get the idea.
They will be armed, trained, and transported to a south american or african country to invade and take over if they can and establish a nation of their own liking with their own rules.
They will pay a 10% protectorate tribute to the motherland and agree to keep their military below a certain (very large) threshhold as a means of preventing nuclear proliferation and arms races. Otherwise they will rule themselves completely according to their values and sink or swim.
Every ideology, religion, and identity will have its fair shot at success and if they fail they will be incorporated back into the motherland as wiser people who understand why things are the way they are, or be free to try again in the next invasion.

Borrow/obtain equipment and initial infrastructure from your existing civilization. The Nez Perce raided not very often random farmers. You are not the Nez Perce, so unless you want to re-invent a different tradition along the lines of a splinter civilization, you are unlikely (only unlikely) to have the skills needed by a genuine homesteader. Rather than weaving and riding horses, you need to know electric filter design, how to produce antiseptic, how not to die from coronavirus....
