So last month this foodstamp cut hit at least 700,000 Americans. Then the corona thing happens. The economy immediately starts tanking. Politicians on the hill start asking economists what can be done in terms of a stimulus. "Food stamps" is one of the big answers. Republicans now don't want to relent and give the food stamps back, which is causing gridlock on capitol hill about this stimulus package, further driving the markets down and blowing the fuck out of the economy (dow is currently -2000).
Do you all understand now why Trump and the Republicans are both evil and fucking stupid? Our country functioned on keynesian economics for 70 years. From FDR through to Clinton's second term. All those years the quality of life got better and better. When we turned away from Keynesian economics (basically left-wing economics, or the concept of giving money to the poor in order to stimulate demand, for those that don't know) that's when our quality of life started to suck for everyone.
Do you get it now, people? Do you understand now why the USA needs leftism? If we went back to all the same policies we had during the 80s, under Reagan, conservatives today would cry "THIS IS FULL SOCIALISM!". That's because "conservatives" are either really fucking stupid, or really fucking dishonest, and you should not listen to them or elect them to run things.
