Hasn't been an RPG that tickles my particular brand of autism in a while. People have lost the ability to write to that, for a lack of a better description, european soul. When I first started lifting weights, the reward system I was getting from video games got replaced by lifting.

I have a full time job now so I dont have time for long rpgs doubly so for co-op ones. I have no interest in the games with propaganda most of them may have big budgets and fancy graphics but they aren't fun to play. I still play some games but its an hour here or a couple hours on the weekend. I'm more interested in making my own games these days than playing them.

You really oughta check out some of the PS2-era games of the early 00s. Imo that is the time when developers were the most creative. There were so many new types of games and gameplay mechanics being experimented with and it was the first time game consoles shipped with a 'modern' controller (d-pad, 4 action buttons, 2 sticks, and triggers).

I remember playing Ocarina of Time for the first time like it was yesterday. It was in a daycare and all us boys there shared a file on the cartridge. We would all try to figure out the puzzles cooperatively it was such a blast when we finally beat it.

Everything about the industry feels incredibly stale and corporate these days. Developers no longer take creative risks, they sticks to what's "safe" and predictable. Some indie games kind of capture the magic of the early late 90s-early 2000s, but the market is so flooded with indie garbage that it's not even worth it digging through the shit pile to find diamonds.

There's also all the SJW shit and manufactured controversies that completely ruin game discussion online.

I’ll definitely have to check that one out and I completely agree. I remember how much I enjoyed Star Wars Battlefront on ps2 and my psp, id spend hours playing in the AI battles and it seemed so much better than later games. Massive vehicles, lots of AI, starship battles, etc.
Same thing with Far Cry 2, the atmosphere, combat, and story was so much better than what alot of new games offer. When I get back into a gaming, I’ll be exploring a lot of the older stuff over the garbage released nowadays.

Ocarina of Time really resonated with me as a kid. Nintendo's first outing with a 3D Zelda game was fucking perfect.
