I've accepted that since the only places to meet anyone these days are clubs, bars and pubs that going to a pub is probably the least unpleasant route. My hobbies are vidya and playing guitar, that's it. With vidya everyone just meets up online, and I'm not confident enough with my guitar playing to use it as a route to meet people. As for pub that can be tricky and environment relative on the whole. My pub isn't ideal as most people there are from an older age group to me and I am trying to cut down on alcohol too (mostly fail so far).
Pub wise meeting someone you somehow met on social media (perhaps discord if that sort of thing happens) could work and make the pub an viable option (although my last date was not successful overall).
