Give me one reason why you are not off (((grid))) right now

I will be off grid soon

thats not enough to run most appliances especially depending on weather

Can switch off at any time. Don't need to until it's necessary.

That's becuse you have 5 fridges and vock 24/7 fat mutt

I'm already off grid if necessary. My solar cell installation is bigger.

i dont own property or land

I was born in 1996 and didn't have wealthy parents.

It's illegal in germany. Not kidding. Look it up. Your place of living HAS to be connected to the grid.

I had a Tesla battery installed, to shift my electricity consumption to off-peak hours, but I didn't get any solar panels installed. Dumb. I really regret that decision now.

I'm pretty well prepped otherwise. I can go to ground here with my wife and kid for up to two months. But if we lose power for any long stretches that gets a lot harder.

I live in a capitalist society and was not born into a class privileged enough to afford going off the grid

My state won't let us.

>installing and maintaining your own power suppliers (solar and wind) actually costs more than using electric company power over time
It's currently not worth it. Get those chinks to make solar arrays for pennies and I'll jump off the grid. I'm not putting them anywhere near my roof or house though, chink shit has a tendency to catch fire randomly.

>t. I would rather be born into a communist society where "the grid" doesn't even exist and people are still living without power and sewage
Gross.

I live on a continent where you can't do anything without a permission slip from the government.

its retarded to put them on your roof anyways

Local government won’t let people own solar panels themselves here

I would just rather the wealth distribution be fixed. 100 years ago 80% of businesses in america were privately owned and the wealth distribution was much better. In a capitalist society you only have as much freedom as you do money so when you have no money you have no freedom. So when Capitalism is done wrong, its just slavery with extra steps

EROEI, my green friend.

electricity is pretty much unnecessary beyond powering a ~100w laptop. all other uses are just a waste really.

This. But there are other things you can do for energy. Free energy non dependent on environmental conditions nor costly to maintain but you’ll be suicided before you can get it running

>I would just rather the wealth distribution be fixed.
To what, numbskull? Not a single hour of human productivity will ever be objectively financially quantifiable.
>gib me monies because I are alive!
Ridiculous.

>when Capitalism is done wrong, its just slavery with extra steps
That's not capitalism, chief. Capitalism is your ability to own things, land, resources, businesses, etc. Corporatism and "Crony Capitalism" are where governments and businesses conspire to fuck you out of your wages and access to resources. That's not capitalism's fault, that's some retards voting for the wrong people. Your commie utopia, however, is slavery with no extra steps. You cannot own land, resources, or a business, all you can do is work in your government job for your government allotment of rations until you die and are harvested by the government organ bank. No thanks.

>In a capitalist society you only have as much freedom as you do money so when you have no money you have no freedom.
Ah yes, the evil money! And what should determine your "freedom" level in your perfect world? Ability to accurately recite Marx? The United States is the most financially mobile society to ever exist. Some immigrants that don't even speak English are millionaires after a few short years. Freedom IS economic mobility, and the "capitalist" United States has that shit on lock.
>everyone on earth should have the exact same access to resources as everyone else
>my government cronies will make sure that happens
It's a nice pipe dream, but I'll take a clunky version of Free Market economics over any "instantly corrupt" Socialism/Communism.

You are pretty good at spinning things sempai. Some top quality strawmanning going on here. Unfortunate for you im not a communist so half your post doesnt apply to me

imagine being so retarded you can only see the world in extremes

>Argument count: 0
Okay.

I do everything to the extreme, cocksucker.

this is true

>turning this thread into a SINK THE CHINK thread
I'm 100% okay with this.

No money to buy land asshole

I should be able to afford it soon

I plan on whoring myself and my wife out on CamSoda.

Fucking xwife took it all... When SHTF though... All bets are off.

You got a permit, son?

if only there was some way to get money in a capitalist society

based and solarpilled
this is the ultimate independence of the free man. energy is all. if you have your own energy, you can steed your own destiny
old info, its worth it now

long term cost of batteries

Which country was that?

That's plenty to run all simple appliances including a fridge if the battery bank and inverter is up to spec.

>old info, its worth it now
I haven't run the numbers in a few years, so on your advice I'll take a look at it again. Unlike other anons, I have acres, so all I really need is a generous price breakover.

ok boomer

Lol, I work for a solar company. I'm doing my part selling this shit hard.

I have been here for 8 years and have never been to angered and triggered by a picture holy fuck

if someone trespasses on *YOUR* property without your consent, you should begin shooting above the waist immediately

>posting last year's normie reddit memes on Yas Forums today
That doesn't make you cringe at all?

>Department of Agriculture

Gee I wonder, user...

I mean, before you do, it's noteworthy to mention that in Brazil it is really, really worth it. but Brazilian energy is ridiculously expensive, so it might not be the case in the US
that being said more photovoltaic-oriented engineers have been entering the market and panels have been consistently getting cheaper over the last 2 years so it might have flipped even regardless of cheap US energy tariffs.

What panels and inverter do you use Kraut?

Money

Energy is pretty cheap in Texas (Texas has it's own grid, ERCOT), so solar and wind have to come in pretty low to beat our existing costs.

>panels have been consistently getting cheaper over the last 2 years
This is what I've been looking for, a good drop in prices.

What do you mean? I'm off grid everyday when i go to sleep.

He was probably attracting pests into his neighbor's yards and they told on him. You can't get in trouble JUST for "growing your own food". Or weed.

What state is that?

Alternative?

You disconnect your home from public water, power and sewage while you sleep?

>You can't get in trouble JUST for "growing your own food".
Widely true with the federal government, but there might be some exceptions if you try growing Kudzu for food or some other banned plant. Specifically, in the US, it's going to be your HOA that will jump your shit for growing crops in your backyard.

>Or weed.
It's possible to get the attention of the DEA, but that's almost always going to be a local law enforcement issue.

Build an array on the ground near the house instead of on the roof. The only real downside is it takes up more space. Single axis tracking is cheap and will boost your gains by a good margin.

Put them literally anywhere else. On your roof is just asking for leaks or fire. Also easier to clean/repair.

Many don't have the land for this. In suburbia, rooftops are potentially the only things high enough to see past the trees.

I have micro hydro and generate 25 KWH a day through the winter. More than enough for a family or two to live off

>old info, its worth it now
No, it really isn't, and never was.

The amount of energy it takes to create one solar panel is equivalent to the amount of energy it would produce in thirty years of continuous use--assuming 365 clear and sunny days every year, no damage, no repairs, no snow, no dust coating the cell surfaces to block the light.

Also, etching silicon solar cell panels requires the use of hydrofluoric acid and is one of the dirtiest industrial processes currently in use today, in environmental terms.

Also, solar cells are only as cheap as they are due to Obama-era subsides to Chinese manufacturers to purchase the needed silver for the contacts. If they bought the silver at current market prices those solar cells would cost three times what they do.

tl;dr solar power and all other forms of "green energy" and "renewable power" are a scam, it has always been a scam, it will always be a scam. Never invest in something that violates the Laws of Thermodynamics.

I have two friends working for competing solar companies in Chicago. There are zero ground arrays here due to space limitations.

is there a fucking law against growing crops in your backyard in jewmerica?
dammit, the golem has been trained well

>You can't get in trouble JUST for "growing your own food".

False since 1942.

infogalactic.com/info/Wickard_v._Filburn

You don't pay for the energy it takes to create a panel, user. You pay for the panel. The panels are much more efficient now. If you're talking about the energy needed to create an industry, yeah, it's cheaper to stick with what you have. You aren't, though. If it costs $200 a panel (high estimate) and you install them yourself without getting roped into some long-term financial deal with solar power companies, it's totally worth it. Power is expensive. Even if it cost more though, I'd do it willingly just to fuck the utilities a little. Fuck utility companies.

(((Building codes)))

*owns a stake in a nuke plant, clearly.
shill

A ground array is more of a rural or homesteading option. Obviously, when space is more valuable, putting them on the roof makes more sense.

dude was prolly growing weed and calling them vegetables
