i've been following it since its proposal, it's gone way beyond the original predictions of proving the electric sun model.
yes, the original was more of a chemical approach but the idea/result its the same: to initiate/promote a specific reaction (nuclear fusion) that puts out more energy (heat) that the energy needed to sustain the electrolisys or the plasma in this case.

If you have hydrogen fusion you also need to have beta decay. Two protons together are not stable. One proton has to beta decay to a neutron to generate stable Deuterium.

It's called arcing. It happens when you bump the probe power draw too high on the . You transition from a perturbatory regime where the probe functions normally to a discharge regime where it becomes a secondary plasma source and in that regime it can very easily go unstable and start arcing to the chamber wall, or set up an e-beam between the probe and the anode and melt the shit out of any soldering or blow up your probes.
