Balancing Religion and Sanity

I come from a hardcore Evangelical background and most of my friends are boarder line insane. That's why I became atheist. Now that I'm becoming religious again it's hard to balance my sanity because I can't help but notice my Christian friends and their social media posts about Jesus all the time kind of comes off as mentally unstable. And I know them personally and they always have breakdowns and shit. Idk, maybe I just have to believe more.

I find this hard too. I'm think when you know the truth about the evil in this world it can really get to people. It has gotten to me in the past. Especially as a boy, I usually rejected God in my daily life and never viewed myself as Christian. I knew I didn't follow in His ways, so I tried not to bother. I'm in a stage of repentance which I will probably take to the grave with me. If you would say that all the great theologians are wrong, at least offer them the respect of thinking they are wrong in complicated ways, and not childish fantasy.

I am certain that St. Thomas and St. Augustine are more familiar with Plato and Aristotle than anyone alive. They devoted their entire lives to theology, abandoning all titles, honors, riches, and earthly pleasures. Do you really think they wouldn't notice a formal contradiction? I strongly suggest you read the theology itself rather than assuming you understand.

I'm just unsure whether Evangelical fervantness is real spiritually or if they are just driving themselves into a kind of "spiritual high". My friends are so sure that this is true Christianity that early Christians practiced but any study if history proves otherwise

But thats not my point, I am not saying you cant use the Greek language and not be a Christian. No, I am saying that someone who uses a pagan philosophical system like that of Aristotle, is no longer a Christian.
