If your country has a very aged population, like Italy or Japan, higher death rates. If your health care system cant deal with a surge in demand, available bed space in ICU's with resperators, high higher death rates.
If your country does the minimum of testing and just reports on deaths, seemingly higher death rates.

Now I think its bullshit to claim that mortality is low because there should be lots of people being tested that show little or no symptoms. So the mortality rate is probably, realistically higher than Korea's 0.5% (who are testing everyone) and much lower than Iran's 10% (who are doing a cover up).

It’s not about who it kills, but instead how much consumer goods will be devoted to ending the pandemic. Medicine is expensive to produce and sell, especially in the US. Meanwhile hygiene products are in short supply and if this truly does become a pandemic, think of how much industry will have to be devoted to producing health and hygiene products, leading to other industries being neglected, leading ultimately to a SHTF situation that isn’t helped by an unstable stock market that was due to hit a low point sooner than later.
So, yeah. It’s not about what the disease will do to people so much as the havoc that the disease will do to the markets and social cohesion.

I do think there is something up though. Multiple doctors who were in perfect health just died out of nowhere. Could it be that Covid-19 can kill anyone and we’re only seeing the death of the elderly right now? Could it’s effects continue to linger after people are supposedly cured? I don’t know.
