My wife is currently going to college for a economics degree, I have argued that it is a useless degree, that she will never find a job with this degree. The argument always ends in a screaming match. Is there any advice anyone has to help me convince her?!! Is this worth the money I am paying for her tuition?!?

I would say it depends on how much you're paying for it and where you're getting your degree from. If you're paying tens (or possibly hundreds) of thousands of dollars or you're going to a low ranked school, you are not getting your money's worth. All of the relevant info is online or accessible through pirated textbooks. All of the earning benefits are eaten up by costs and, more importantly, foregone wages. If you are at a top uni and you're getting your shit paid for, you're good. Do note that you are going to be programmed at every angle, and need to be very aware of the flaws in the arguments your profs give you.

people with a B.S. in Economics from my school have a median salary of like 80 grand by the time they are 27 or 28, only about 5 grand lower the computer science and other engineering majors. so no its not worthless, at least not in california where I am. the degree itself though is mostly just to virtue signal to finance companies that you're not retarded at math

I used my econ degree to go into the Air Force as an officer. I manage the teams that write/negotiate contracts. The benefits are great but you have to deal with moving every couple years, and occasionally being deployed to the middle east.
If you don't want it for life, it's very easy (after proving yourself for a few years) to just go work for Boeing or Lockheed Martin instead.

Economics is basically an applied maths degree depending on the program.

Op, being able to tell stories with data is a valuable skill. Tell her to minor in CS or at least learn SQL. She can walk into a business intelligence analyst role and be head and shoulders above everyone else on day 1.

Even without knowing SQL to start, my salary went from 40k as a jr. BI Analyst to 76k as a sr. inside of three years. Known some very talented women, too.

Economics is an arts degree. Finance is a technical degree. If she wants to be in that world she should do finance, and preferably at a school that facilitates getting your licenses.

Economics is alright, she will either get into government, private firm, or a bank. Way better than a humanities's degree, less demanding than a doctor/law, and fuck business and STEM.
