I'd bet that at least a portion of them are from people who got lost, injured, animal attack, etc. and died, but I'd also wager serial killers, thrill killing teens, etc make up a a pretty big chunk too. Cause this is about the people who go missing near National Parks and Nature preserves right? go out to Big Bend in west texas and look at some of the trails. or Joshua Tree in California. One guy packing in a duffel bag with a hunting rifle, or even just a hatchet, could very, very easily set up an ambush. I've hiked through both and the landscape out there is a nightmare for spotting threats.

I’d just round it off to “evil spirits.” Too much randomness to say it’s one specific thing.
I’d say it’s more horrifying than Jews, but Jews are clearly more large scale damaging.

I think/would bet there are caves/tunnels, with secret or obscure entrances.
Some people discover them on their own, others are kidnapped through them.
This isn't meant to explain all who disappear, but it would explain many of the cases I've read.
