The T-55 is an awesome Tank. It's my favorite. It's just a good all around durable, mobile, light, and low-maintenance war machine.
That being said it's only a good tank so long as there are no other Tanks around... (but due to fuel needs, repair needs, weight and restrictive terrain, air attacks, etc. there are lot of places big Tanks can go easily or won"t endure in)

The Maus never ran out of fuel because it was never used, and Germany having no fuel didn't have much to do with their tank design, user. I'd rather the nat'l guardsmen flee to the hills with their equipment and families. Be easier to fight domestic enemies if we take care of each other's families and move them out of harms way. Military equipment like this can be found at armories and even some police stations, so be aware of who is playing for which side. Might save your town from traitors. Who knows at this point?

If nothing else it would be a great way to have a mobile bunker to protect civilian convoys from infantry attacks. You could conceivably park it somewhere to block a road and stop potential carbombers from doing carbombing things to civvies. Honestly I'd rather draw fire away from my wife and child while they escaped if it came down to it, and I would expect others to help take care of them if they could. God willing I will do the same for anyone that shows up here.
