You don't need to lose much if any muscle. Your body breaks down muscle when it can't get enough energy from fat. Problem is, your body can only convert about 0.8% of your total fat mass into energy per day. The thing to do is get a good body fat measurement and then use that to calculate the maximum number of calories your body can get from stored fat per day. That should be your maximum calorie deficit. As you lose more fat, the calorie deficit will shrink, making it more and more difficult to lose that last bit of fat but it also means you get good results early on when you need it most to motive you.

Stop eating sugar. Stop eating seed oils (canola, onions, corn). Stop eating chicken, turkey, and pork. Start eating vegetables, beef, butter, and eggs. Saturated fat is good for you. But most of all, do not eat anything sweet unless it comes from a fruit. If you follow those rules you will lose weight with no effort.

Intermittent fasting and only eating broccoli and chicken breast all day. First 3 days will suck, then you get into it and it's easy.

As a former 220 at 5'10 who got down to 154 and now back up to 176, there is no magic answer except for CICO.
Either create a 500-1000kcal deficit by eating less AND/OR move more. It's simple but it's imo not easy, which is why a lot of people struggle.
There is no magic bullet, all those diets may work simply because it's easier to adhere to and stay consistent which is THE most important thing when it comes to a diet.
Use an app like Cronometer or MyFitnessPal + a Kitchen scale and make sure you track every single thing. If you still aren't losing weight at a 750-1000kcal deficit after 1 month, then you may have hormonal issues like Hypothyroidism which you should go and get it checked out (bloodwork).
I personally avoid cheat days because that's what made me put on weight and got me to my current situation. Sweet food is my heroin.

Homemade shit will, at the very least, have less added sugar. And adding in fruits and vegetables will help you feel a lot better even with less calories.
At the very least do some bodyweight exercises and jogging. Obviously weightlifting or sports would be better, but it really isn't for everyone.

But I started going to the gym in late January and since the last week I haven't drank any alcohol in one week. I've stopped eating bread, sweets and pizza. I'm consuming as much protein as possible. But a smartwatch and aim for 5k steps if you're a fatass that gets winded. Over the course of a few weeks, increase to 10k steps per day. Then 20k steps a few months later.

Walking is the ONLY exercise you need to do.

Watch the fat fall off your body in 6-12 months.

Also like other anons said you ideally want to lose mostly body fat & not just weight in general since that means muscle as well. For that you want to ensure you eat a high amount of protein + lift weights consistently. Also if you have low testosterone naturally then getting on TRT will be a godsend for both fat loss and muscle maintenance.
