Previous thread > trying to formulate this post less autistically....
>how is rice political? this is of concern to you since political unrest has caused a world of open borders and global travel that facilitates the spread of disease. in a time like this information is currency. knowing food basics can help ease your mind in these troubling times. People think making rice is as simple as water and rice in a pot turn on fire. >its not
So are you buying a ton of food? Do you think youre going to be able to cook all of that and make it palatable? Some questions to ask yourself: >Have actually ever cooked rice before? >Do you know how to actually cook? >Or, is your definition of cooking pulling something out of the microwave? >Do you know how much to rinse rice? >Do you know why you would even want to rinse it to begin with? >Do you know water to rice ratios? (they vary, do you know why?) >Do you know how to boil the water to cook rice? >Do you have a decent pot to cook it? >Do you even have a lid that seals for that pot? >Do you have another pot in case you want to be cook something else at the same time?
Have you thought of things you might need like, spatulas, spoons, strainers, cutting boards, sharp knives, spices, good cookware, cast iron skillets, alternate cooking methods, recipes, books, condiments, soisauce, salt, pepper, cutting boards, handtowels, papertowels, etc?
Sure I'm using rice as an example, but the same applies to basically anything you bought as cooking from scratch is something that learned by making mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake. I think people are going to be very surprised at how difficult it is to cook 2-3 meals a day for themselves when they are so accustomed to eating out multiple times a week. If you havent been cooking for yourself for most of your adult life, chances are youre not gonna make it. youre better off not buying dry goods and buying fucking frozen shit or dinty moore.
fuck shit has anyone even bought cooking oil? in all the carts of panic buying i dont think i saw one thing of oil holy shit classic. all the food, no oil, and not a steel wool in sight
other dry/non perishable/shelf stable foods you may want to keep:
condiments: mustard mayo ketchup soisauce worcheshershire sauce hot sauce vinegar
dry goods: flour sugar brown sugar salt pepper paprika garlic powder NOT SALT onoin powder cajun spice
i can list more

>People think making rice is as simple as water and rice in a pot turn on fire. >its not It literally is.
i understand you think this, but have you made it? are you too busy hating niggers and jews to have actually ever cooked a solid meal for yourself?
Xavier Jackson
>but have you made it? Yes. >are you too busy hating niggers and jews to have actually ever cooked a solid meal for yourself? Projection and no.
Bentley Garcia
I haven't seen oil in any of the panic carts I've seen either in pictures posted online or of the few I've seen pushed around the store. In fact the only oil I've seen purchased as prep has been in pictures posted by other anons here on threads where people share their prep. People really have no idea how to cook, at all. One of the first things I bought to boost my supplies was olive oil.
Jaxson Sullivan
>projection touche >yes ok then good dude. i mean you have it all under control then.
Brayden Perez
How the fuck can you mess up cooking rice and beans? It's like the god damned easiest thing in the world to cook.
Luke Thomas
BUMPERINO
Cameron Foster
You don't have to rinse rice. You can eat unrinsed rice just fine.
Christopher Young
What a fucking dumb assertion. How is cooking rice more complicated than " water and rice in a pot turn on fire"?
William Morris
I’m shocked at how some poeple cook rice like they actually strain it afterwards. Wtf. You guys just have to put enough water, boil, reduce to low heat, and let the water evaporate until rice is nice and soft. So usually just 2-3 cups of water for 1 cup of uncooked rice depending on the variant.
Michael Lopez
>making mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake. If it takes you five mistakes in to cook rice or beans you deserve to die. That's a Darwin Award not a tragedy.
Jack Baker
In fact rinsing rice in a survival situation is retarded. Unless you have limitless water, who cares if your rice is clumpy or gummy?
Nolan Wood
protip: pickle some vegetables so you actually have some nutrition and variety
I haven't made dry beans in years. Made a pot last night and I definitely overcooked it, still perfectly edible.
Julian Russell
>pic related i bought one of these guys. i love peanut oil cuz of the smoke point but i dont like that they put the anti foam agent in here. oh well. i stopped sauteeing with olive oil years ago, becoming carcinogenic at such a low temp isnt good. use clarified butter or ghee peanut or avacado oil. ok, you can also eat flour and water mixed together, doesnt mean its good. *checks flag* idk man, maybe because cooking food is actually something that difficult to do otherwise there wouldnt be stores with EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ISLE made of premade food. i shop on the outside walls of the store (produce / dairy / meat), where do you shop, the isles?? i thought so now FUCK OFF someone asked what some uses were for the rice water after its done cooking. top kek
You don't have to but the end result is better if you remove the surface starch
Carter Rogers
rice is easy. Beans not so much, depending on the type.
Brody Stewart
NOOOO you don't understand! You also need to turn OFF the heat at the right time or all the water will evaporate! Then comes the ordeal where you consume the rice. Have any of you millennials ever used your molars before? I haven't seen retard prepper chew on anything except gum. You need to understand the importance of chewing properly.
To be fair, plenty of burgers feel they have to have that super throw down imported 3rd world shithole rice covered in talcum powder and bagged in some unintelligible moonspeak, so it's an extra step for them. Afgter all the instructions don't say anything about taking out of the package, so it's not that simple.
Carter Diaz
ok yeah in your example are you mobile? because if youre at home eating the same gooey shit everyday youre gonna be disgusted, think eating baby food for every meal, its gross >made a pot of dry beans last night soak em user, 24 hours. or get a pressure cooker. >bean- starch not easy to cook correctly >rice - starch not easy to cook correctly interesting shhhh. let him eat his porridge
Bentley Clark
It's usually a good idea to check on it around the time it should be done.
Julian Ortiz
Food faggots are the worst. It's the most self-serving, solipsistic, pretentious hobby in the world, other than perhaps self dream interpretation. Yes, I know how to cook rice. Yes, I know how to cook it well. No, you can't have any. Here is a cup of dog food to keep you alive.
Joshua Perry
(You) ok, you can also eat flour and water mixed together, doesnt mean its good. Not even comparable. Unrinsed rice is just clumpy. It's a texture issue. It's still cooked rice.
Tyler Young
>Cooking basic shit is complicated If a woman can do it, anyone can do it.
Luis Bailey
this
plus american rice doesn't get polished with talc.
Jayden Williams
>super throw down imported 3rd world shithole rice covered in talcum powder and bagged in some unintelligible moonspeak do you think rice comes from fucking Florida or something. literal laugh out loud nigger. 90% of the worlds rice is made in a third world shit hole, thats why you rinse it brainlet
Aaron Bell
>tfw you cook like a motherfucker cuz you're also a chemist buy chainlink
Cameron Thomas
>isles Check my flag all you want, even the dumbest 70 IQ rural nigs here know how to cook rice. >cooking food is actually something that difficult to do It's really, really not. People have been doing it for a hundred thousand years, people are just lazy. It's not difficulty, it's convenience. If your countrymen have trouble cooking rice you and need to have days of threads made about it so they don't starve, you have bigger problems than either or a virus or cooking being "difficult" .
Dude you are retarded. I cook a giant pot of rice every couple days. I don't even measure it anymore I just dump it in. And fill it up with water till it's past the first knuckle on my index finger. Perfect every time. You don't even need to cook it you could soak it for a day and eat it like that.
Jacob Walker
>i understand you think this, but have you made it? are you too busy hating niggers and jews to have actually ever cooked a solid meal for yourself? Are you a narcissist? You think everyone needs to be saved by your puerile abilities to cook rice? It's a basic cooking skill.
Jordan Russell
>It's the most self-serving, solipsistic, pretentious hobby in the world, not eating feed is pretentious men >>>>>>>>>>> women in the kitchen dude i havent been in school in a while user, forgive me? its not a word i type often. youre full of shit and this is not cooking >overnight rice stop it >he thinks the thread is about my superior rice cooking skills that reading comprehension
>Do you know how much to rinse rice? you must be a fucking gook or other lame brained minority. you dumb fuck rinse all the enrichment off white rice because you filthy fucks can't understand that something can be prewashed as no dumb minority ever thought of it. so when white people through the UN tried to solve world nutritional deficiencies by enriching rice with vitamins it had absolutely no effect because you dumb gooks, niggers and other mystery meat wash off all the vitamins and think that the opaque white dust you are washing off is dirt or excess starch when barely any is actually excess starch
you also remove all the vitamin enrichment retard. in the U.S. our white rice is all prewashed using high pressure equipment but dumb minorities and retards like you wash off all the vitamins thinking the white water is excess starches when it's 95% vitamin enrichment
Jose Russell
maximum autist. you can cook rice on a fucking hot rock. it requires as much brain power as velcroing your shoes. hot tips for any anons on rice cooking- 1. wash your rice 2. to measure water just container until the water level is up to the first join of your index finger over the top of the rice. doesn't matter how much rice you put in the pan, first index finger joint. 3. if you are boiling in a pan be careful not to burn it. go ahead and give it a stir while you're taking it up to a boil
Regardless of rinsing you should soak it for ~30 min.
Josiah Garcia
Can confirm finger trick. I usually rest my thumb in the top finger joint. Works every time.
Also I don't wash my rice, white rice is stripped of all its nutrients during processing into white rice. The starch powder is addition that adds those minerals and stuff back.
It is just add water, but some retards probably can't stand over a pot, stir for 10 minutes and then throw a lid on it.
Jonathan Russell
it makes icky rice sludge and makes the pot harder to clean
Aaron Jenkins
Apparently this is a fucking rice thread now. Can you explain how I lived eating brown rice that was over a year old? Are you niggers talking about COOKED rice? Also holy fuck, a lot of you fuck really cant cook can you? Goddamn... Also the best way to make rice is in a pressure cooker.
Matthew Watson
Lmao am I the only one who thought to buy jugs of canola oil?
Brandon White
Eh I buy imported basmati rice so I gotta wash it. I'm not switching from basmati cause a man gotta eat briyani every week
Isaiah Taylor
Anyone who needs help cooking rice should make friends with the closest Puerto Rican abuelita they can find.
Henry Taylor
I cook stir fry and my boyfriend does too, we stocked up on supplies, rice, and canned stuff we can put in the fry :3
Thanks for yelling at these NEETs cooking-sama!
Nathan Adams
look once again dumb shit skins can't understand that wash can be prewashed. seriously you dumb fucking low iq retards never even considered the possibility. just shows that the white man can never teach the dumb gook, niggers and spics anything because you are too stupid to understand
David Reed
Yeah you can eat 1 year old rice, nothing special about that
Camden Miller
I only eat brown rice and basmati rice dumbass
Thomas Wood
>eating the same gooey shit everyday Is pretty much what everybody besides royalty did 99% of the time up until the industrial revolution. >do you think rice comes from fucking Florida Arkansas produces 9 BILLION pounds per year, many other states produce a fair bit as well. The USA exports over 7% of the world's rice crop, 220,000 metric tons of it.
Nathan Jackson
>Also I don't wash my rice, white rice is stripped of all its nutrients during processing into white rice. The starch powder is addition that adds those minerals and stuff back. you are wasting your breathe Sven, only white people know that white rice is fortified and prewashed heavily before that. dumb minorities always wash off all the vitamins they cannot fathom something being cleaned before packaging
James Evans
>he still cooks it using fire and not the patrician way of boiling water, dumping the rice in, and putting a lid on the pot before putting it in the oven at 375F for 20 minutes
Kevin Rivera
rinse 3 times then 2 cups water to 1 cup rice add butter salt and whatever else. bring to a boil for 2 mins then lower heat to a simmer with the lid on for 20-25 mins stirring every 5 mins
Carter Carter
so you're a fucking retard who buts in on things that don't pertain to you and then try to act smug? yep total mongoloid nigger ass baboon
Colton Ortiz
>rinse 3 times show your true flag you fucking gook
Jonathan Lewis
Right? How many people bought flour but dont have yeast? They will be stuffing shitty flour cakes down their gullet and i'll be baking actual cakes because I spent 6$ on 13lbs of baking soda
Asher Thomas
I only started washing my rice to prevent this very phenomena. It no longer happens.
I dont care if its prewashed or not, the way i make rice is based on actually making rice not speculating on theoretical rice.
If you sub water for chicken stock it really makes it pop!
Brody Brown
I already had vegetable oil, olive oil and shortening before this shit even kicked off lol. I've also been cooking since I was a teenager, so I know how to cook rice.
Xavier Harris
>the way i make rice is based on actually making rice not speculating on theoretical rice. you have a commie flag retard therefore you don't actually have any rice and all your thoughts on eating it are just theoretical
Lucas Lewis
I cant tell if this is an elaborate bait thread, or if you're really this autistic. Cooking isnt hard, especially when you can look up how to guides and videos for even the most obscure dishes.
>People think making rice is as simple as water and rice in a pot turn on fire. >>its not
Jesus, are you that stupid? Cooking is not that difficult
Brody Nguyen
sexy long grains you got there user. how does this compare to jasmine oh if youre asian then you should be able to make rice solely by instinct. huwytes struggle with basic rice cooking because their moms use minute rice and shit like that. i learned though. user holy shit you shot past my autism level at light speed. always rinse rice, even if its just once, ok? yea you can cook rice on any heated surface stupid. it doenst mean that 95% of people are going to be able to do it. learn how differentiate the difference between skillsets and levels. also diff rices require diff amounts of water so that doesn work in all cases no you dont dude. do you think they just spray a vitamin coat on there? do you even know how enriched rice is made?? youre the retard here, you. if you are depending on rice for your every meal youre not gonna be around long anyway
Gabriel Watson
Since when do you need a lid to cook rice?
Samuel Wright
>How many people bought flour but dont have yeast? You can make sourdough without yeast, you can make pasta with no leavening. Pasta may not be practical for those without a good water source.
