My roommates and I will sometimes play Civilization V or Catan against each other. For those not familiar with these games, there's a free for all element (only one player can win), but usually people can work together as much as they want to, or isolate themselves if they choose to.
I've slowly started to notice a pattern in these games, in that usually whoever starts out noticeably strong (builds larger civilizations, armies, settlements, conquers more land, etc.) gets deemed by the others as the common enemy, and it turns into a 1 vs all. Let's call the player who starts out strong "W". W plays honorably and fairly. He will make intelligent decisions that demonstrate forethought and an intimate knowledge of the game and logic. The other players will see his profitable empire and be resent him however, claiming that he doesn't deserve all of this and it was pure luck.
Theoretically, the 1 vs all should end when W is handicapped back down to an even level as the rest, but very rarely does that happen. What usually happens is the stronger player in the "all" group manipulates the rest of the "all" group into giving himself an advantage under the guise of "stopping the immediate threat W". Let's call this strong player "J". J is crafty and cunning, an expert on human psychology. J knows all of his opponents better than he knows the game, he knows who is strong and who is weak, and how to exploit the weaker opponents to bring down the stronger ones. J will condition the rest of the group with his propaganda and will slowly and quietly take first place, while keeping the rest of the group poised against W.
In reality, W is no longer a true threat and everyone should be wary of J, but any attempts by W to argue that falls on deaf ears, as J has successfully manipulated the group into believing that they are doing what's best for everyone. In the end, W has been neutered, the group is still trying to figure out how to bring W down, and J finds himself in a victory position. By the time the rest of the players realize what has happened, and start to listen to W, it's too late; J has a guaranteed victory.
Does anyone else enjoy playing games?

Civ V
Kill yourself zoomer
Civ II or go home
Colton Watson
Settlers of Catan is literally a normie retard game, there is no effective way to punish people for their shitty actions unless you roll a 7 or you want to build roads to mess with them
Sebastian Richardson
J and W have high IQ's. Were you W?
Aaron Kelly
Ok so you lost and you're salty, big deal. I can't stand cucks that give victories to anyone but themselves. It's not a team-game unless specified. Everyone should ally against the biggest threat, while trying to win themselves.
Camden King
I noticed something similar >J >W based

>Does anyone else enjoy playing games?
No civ v is normie tier , Civilization IV BTS with K-mod is the rightfully autist strategy game.
Gabriel Peterson
Lmao you are fucking dumb. God I hate jews. Cant wait for your faggots to get the rope.

>Catan
Literally baby’s first tabletop strategy game, fuck off with that gay shit and lmk when you’re ready to sit at the big boy table. Pic rel is a man’s game.

You symbolized the white civilization vs jewish subverter dynamic very well OP.

>Civ V is absolute shit. still better than VI

Had that back in the days when you needed hamachi for Age of Empires 2. I could easily do 2v1, but back then only had LAN exp so 3v1 wasn't possible. I overwhelmed my friends individually, so they coalitioned against me to destroy me. Even at the end they decided that enough wasn't enough and they tried to kill every last villager instead of just crippling me. Fortunately I had a secret hideout behind a treeline of one of their bases. Never recovered and ultimately lost, but I did piss them off for quite some time with small raids.
Enough blog posting, back to politics. You are a faggot and I sage this thread.

Civ V is a pretty good game at teaching you how to plan ahead and understand the nature of global conflict and affairs. Obviously it's just a game and you don't learn a ton, but you get a pretty strong foundation of how things go down everywhere and the competition that is nations.
Levi Walker
A&A but the 1914 variant, specifically

Fucking based love the original will have to check that out
Oliver Murphy
user, you cant see the forest thru the trees. maybe next life chump.
based Caveman2Cosmos patrician this would be a better thread if you made a political connection but you didn't and now this is a Civ thread
Brandon Johnson
The goal of the game is to win, if W goes too strong too soon and then gets stopped they are not very good at the game. W needs to literally hid their power level.
Yea, bro... you've discovered a very well known element of strategy games. I think it's called the castle-effect or something like that- when you build a big castle around your city, it protects you - but it's also flashy and draws attention. When strong, pretend to be weak; when weak pretend to be strong. dont show the others how good your hand is until you know you have enough to dominate.

This. There is fog of war for a reason. If he signed Open Borders or didn't snowball by the time civs research Sattelites then the player is bad. does RoM have the future age and is it still being updated? I'm personally fine with C2C loadtimes because I play it while reading a book. this also. It's best to have the best knowledge of the game itself in the lobby, and also manipulate all the other players. >My score? yeah that's all from tech. My empires actually hollow in the inside. It's all desert. Now, how about I trade you some techs to attack player C(onstantinople).
Stop being a cuck. start 4d chess'ing J by "accidentally" not helping him beat W 4d chess requires you to make W believe he is done for and make J think he hasn't been caught out
Bro are you actually implying someone has finished an online game of Civ 5? You're full of it m8
Ethan Diaz
II, IV, III, I, V, VI
Evan Cooper
Dude your strategies are shit tier. How are you ever going to beat Mater of Orion 2 on the hardest setting?
Samuel Mitchell
That was literally me every time I played online vs others. I played as Pacal or Montezuma. Always get invaded and wiped out by others in the most treacherous ways. Totally unprovoked, I was just trying to build my civ and they'd get jealous.
Chase Thomas
Is this an actual thing you noticed or did you only use civ 5 as an allegory of whats happening to the West?
Aaron Rodriguez
>Civ II >mfw >not still playing Civ I on an MS-DOS rig like a true patrician.
What you described is exactly as it is. It happens too often and why I hate free for all, because people almost never play it in order to win themselves, but to "fuck some other dude over". Why this is bad is because there is no intelligent though, decisions or balance between the powers. In an any intelligent confrontation you want to keep fighting with other sides to the minimum as not to weaken yourself through needless conflict, even more so on a single opponent who may be way below threat level to you. But no, people will throw away any chance of victory for themselves and autistically focus on something, never adjusting.
So I guess I'm the W player, because find myself in situation where some autists are attacking me because they deemed me a threat, but even when I point out that another power is growing ever more stronger and that they will surely lose if they dont consider shifting their focus on more important things, they still continue to fuck around.
I am scared, for I believe a lot of wars probably were like this as well. Where some retarded leader fixated on muh honor, or I hate those guys rather than fostering their own growth. Which leads to defeat.
Jaxon Miller
There's no better genocide simulator currently on market.
and you can also build up an army of knights and play one every single round against J
Robert Brown
No faggot 5 is the best, then 4. I gave 6 many chances, but like peterstein discussing 200 years together, i just can't
Nathaniel Bennett
i cant here you over your "REEE" fuck off spastic, if you cant cop the loss then stop playing games, if your still wanting to play a game; play ropey chokey everyone wins!
Andrew Adams
the game does do that, even nations you're friendly with for 4 thousand years get triggered once your lead becomes too great. The trick is to save all your religious points for great scientists at the end and have that coincide with the finishing of the rationality tech branch, then by the time they organise any effort against you you've gone from pre industrial backwater to nuclear superpower, hit a few capitals unprovoked and then everyone else cowers in fear
Hudson Davis
it is quite obvious that your IQ is very low
Charles Collins
clearly. The amount of people that don't understand that this is a political allegory and think this guy is only talking about the game is quite disturbing. Either Yas Forums truly has an extreme amount of autists and spergs or it's really low IQ or, dare I say both.
