Such a tax seems excessive. I mean there are already property taxes but they only apply to real estate.
A wealth tax on stock would kill all overvalued companies like Google, Tesla or Amazon. Gigantic valuations and just a trickle of income. The stock would crash until the income/capital ratio was somehow sustainable, but then they could not fund their expansion by selling shares.

Couple of things I don't understand about wealth tax. Maybe you commies could clear this up for me. How is it calculated? From net worth or liquid cash? If the former how are they supposed to pay the tax when they don't have any liquid cash? Is this a one time tax? If so, how is it going to solve anything? If not and it's an annual tax will they heep taxing the same wealth over and over or calculate some difference between each year? Isn't the difference just annual income covered by the income tax?

I imagine is like property taxes. Its supposed to be a small percentage over net worth. The idea is that all your assets are supposed to be producing, this makes more political sense with real estate.
It can be downright confiscatory if the tax is too high. Imagine a farm producing 2% returns and 1% property tax, thats is 50% of income goes out in tax without even considering normal income tax.
