Ok here's your retard-friendly explanation: Russia is shooting themselves in the foot so the ricochet can hit America in the chest come election month and make them scared enough so as to force concessions from them, but the Saudis heard the shot and got angry at it so they doubled down on it and started selling oil to China for cheaper so as to undercut Russia's exports and force them to stop shooting like this, which led to the effect of the price crash being much worse. Now not a single of the 3 sides is happy with the outcome and there are two options: some kind of a middle ground is achieved, or someone throws a tantrum and the world descends into 1938-tier stability with a 1930-tier economy.

I know that you want to spin this as the USA being immortal and untouched by this, but the truth is much different. Fracking was unprofitable at the past price points, it's an outright financial black hole at the current one. It's not about oil exports, it's about your industry running at the cheap electricity prices that it runs on right now, and it being unable to handle any bumps without making 2008 seem like a joke.
