Does anyone else get annoyed when Boomers always make the statement “instead of going to college learn a trade instead.” Like trades are quite good and make good money, but its not for everyone.
Boomers “Trade job” argument
>But its not for everyone
see stop being a bitch
I fell for the welding meme. About to go back to college at 29 for mechanical engineering.
That contractor has some nice titties
Boomers think you can work 2 years in retail and buy a new house. They live in a different galaxy.
boomers are in denial about the shit economy they enabled, they'll never admit everything is fucked now
she can fix my plumbing anytime
College isn’t for everyone. Back before every retard was allowed into college, a degree was worth something. And people who weren’t academically inclined spent their first four years after college learning practical skills that could earn them enough to feed a family. Now everything is shit. I would say that boomers telling their dumbass kids to “just go to college and study whatever” has been the bigger problem.
Nothing wrong with honest work in a trade for our people in the dull normal range and further left on the bell curve. Anyone who reads /pol is going to be the type of white person with enough synapses firing to go into law, medicine, business, art, screen writing, advanced science or something along those lines.
fpbp
faggots all want a cushy office job doing essentially nothing that pays six figures
I couldn't decide on a major in college and graduated with a joke degree, but then ended up teaching myself programming. The degree did come in handy though, as a lot of places require a 4 year degree.
What didn't you like about welding?
Sorry, meant to say “first four years after high school....
I'm glad that my dad encouraged me to get a masters in stem. Now I have a comfy lab job that pays really well. It's not for everyone though.
Used to be a hvac engineer. Went to uni at 23 to study Aerospace Engineeeing. Best decision of my life.
I can't go back to college and can't do a trade so I've decided to let go.
I like it but there's zero money in it where I live. Also if you're not doing custom fab or contracts you'll be a production cuck in a sweatshop. Currently working in a custom stainless and alum fab shop but it's boring work.
What do you mean by "Fell for the welding meme?" I was under the impression that welding is a good profession to be in.
mech engineering is no better. You'll have to compete with H1Bs for slave wages.
It can be depending on where you live and your general skill level. You might live in bumfuck nowhere and your only opportunities will be in jimbos muffler shop unless you do your own thing travelling.
>live in small town where all jobs are networked and given through word of mouth interviews.
I did the journeyman trade ladder, worked out well for me. When my body started to hurt in my late 20's I got retrained to healthcare (because it's in demand in my community it was a free course).
Tbh I just follow the job market and stay flexible with my skills. Been working for +15yrs and have probably had over 10 jobs in 3 major careers... never paid for school and have 3 diplomas and now have +100k in the bank.
welding fucking sucks. Half the time I feel like beating my head off a peace of steel because im so bored and the other half my wireless headphones are charged so I can listen to an audiobook and go to a wonderful dream world full of hope and joy where welding doesn't exist.
Soon university will reach peak saturation and a bachelor's degree will be about as valuable as toilet paper.
grade inflation already rampant
50% of all final grades assigned at my university are A
That's what everyone said about programming, and they were right, but I ended up getting a job (though it took me almost 2 years), and it pays more than most other work I could do. Plus I just sit on the computer all day, granted it can be stressful when there's a deadline, or you're stuck working with some dickhead, but that's every job.
Knowing how to weld is good if you wanna do some home improvement projects and save money. Doing it for a living is total ass.
I like tig and that's it. I started mig and fucking despise it. Stick was shit too with all the fumes.
Breathing in the welding fumes literally gives you brain damage
Fuck you pussy I’m already in the trades.
Trades are great. Once you have your own business, you can make 100k a year without worry. I always hit 150k and with little worry and effort. No student loans, no college where dumb cunts tell you what the world is like even though they haven't had a real job in decades. College is for law, engineering, and medical degrees. Everything else is a scam.
what happened? I know welders who make $50 an hour...
Those who trades aren’t for so to speak, legitimately and aren’t just typical lazy fatbody fags trying to play smug while they end up a neet or office cubicle call in center gayboi making 1/3rd what they think they deserve... they probably don’t need to be told trades aren’t for them. Maybe given some guidance toward what constitutes a viable degree.
I like stick well enough because it actually takes skill. Im currently working in a small fab shop using mig.. I swear, its the most joyless, effortless thing ive ever done. I could easilly train a monkey to MIG weld in 3 bananas or less.
Ive never tried TIG. My buddy says its pretty hard so id like to give that a go one day.
MIG has really ruined welding for me. I used to be a happy person and passionate about my welds but now I just dont care.. I think im going to see if I cant get on with a construction crew, go do something less mindless like digging ditches by hand and shoveling shit.
I could make that if I was willing to leave this area. Most I've made here was 27/hr that was maintenance in a rocky quarry. Shittiest job ever but that was considered high pay around here.
wuhan's hiring warehouse workers
$15/hr + U.S. 401 (k)
and you're allowed to wear headphones
What? Want to try phrasing that again but less retarded?
Didn't realize exhaust systems and PPE didn't exist.
Stick was fine but I was doing it outdoors in these tiny rock chutes. About 2x3. One rod and the whole thing is filled with smoke and you only have 10 more hours to go.
Do you live in Appalachia?
>just do something you hate your whole life
Its shit like that is the reason nobody wants to do trade jobs, the work enviroment especially the people are quite cocksuckers. Some can take the bullshit but most people want to at least be treated with respect im pretty sure nobody wants to sit there at work all day and have some fat boomer call you a faggot all day
Just about.
>Plus I just sit on the computer all day
do you really feel this is a positive?
outch, That would ruin it for sure haha I got to do it in a big open shop making frames for farming equipment so it was pretty relaxed and you didnt have to bathe in a toxic miasma for 10-12 hours a day.
They only tell this to young white men and the opposite to everyone else
"Real men do low IQ labor with a Mexican boss!"
Okay let me try. Your mother is a whore, and leafs are trash. You’re too goddamn stupid to read and parse caveats in your idiot’s brain, and you can shut your goddamn mouth.
That's genuinely how they view the world, because it worked for them 40-50 years ago. My mom's a complete dipshit that still thinks the world works exactly the same way it did in 1978. They legitimately live in an alternate reality.
After working a lot of factory jobs were I'd be standing all day, or I'd get yelled at for pulling my phone out to change podcasts, yes. Ideally I'd like to be remote, but until I figure out a way to get paid for doing nothing, sitting at a computer isn't that bad. It's safe, it's clean, and I'm given a lot of leeway as to when I can show up for work and leave, no one keeps track of how long my lunch breaks are. I live close to work so I often go home and sleep for an hour.
Just like college isn’t for everyone, wow shocker!
No. It’s sound advice. The college con has been horrible. There’s a place for it, but it’s not every single person going to it and trying to get a degree.
Shit, I'd go if it were real. 15 an hour in China? Tiny underage hookers for days.
Well, you do you, I'm an accountant and I hate having to sit part of my day. It's pretty relaxed most of the year though, I can walk around talking shit or go for walks outside if I want to.
In America they try to Jew you as hard as possible after telling you how good the trades are.
Welcome to life faggot
I mean I don't like sitting around either, I'm a pretty active person, but it's work, and work sucks, but I appreciate how easy it is because I've gone through my share of really shitty jobs. Plus I get paid several times more for work that's a lot easier than working in a factory.
Obviously having a trust fund or something and traveling the world is a million times better than working in some office, but that's not my reality.
HVAC, 6months schooling, job waiting,$30/hr after 1yr...yup I'm sure hurting financially and my payments for my meme-degree leave enough money for bread and water
This is a lie. >Trades are great. Once you have your own business, you can make 100k a year without worry. I always hit 150k and with little worry and effort.
Why do shills want you working 15hrs a day in harsh/dangerous fields with the daily possibilities of either getting sued, or losing your license, or getting injured for life?
Because they want you to have no social power or influence. They want you so busy that you have no time for your family as the State + feminist mothers raise them. They tell other races to seize positions of power. They tell white girls to consider the cultural influence fields; that 'gender studies' degree gets you all kids of culture based entry level jobs.
They target this propaganda on Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan which is designed for a specific demographics appeal of non-s.oy-males that might think independently. The same demographic/shows that Jordan Peterson appears on.
IT'S DISENFRANCHISEMENT
>listened to parents to go college because it was expected
>dropped out 2 years in because because broke af and not for me
>get job become apprentice for tradeskill
>now make $86k/yr
My brother graduated with an accounting degree and he's making less than $40k/yr and in $50k debt, talk about a waste of time and money.
My opinion is that if you are in the category of "its not for me" then you shouldnt be alive
I hate pussies so much
Milkers on blonde.
>but its not for everyone.
If you feel that way, then go to college in a field that ISNT useless, at least.
If you can’t even manage that, then you deserve to be a debt slave.
The actual reason it's shit is because 15 years ago boomers were like "go to college" like flies on shit. Shitty 70yo boomers have never known a single fucking thing in their lives, all they know now is that jobs have stopped hiring 70yos to entry level positions because there is no point in hiring an old man who is going to die soon just because he has no actual skills.
When it comes down to it, of course, all the STEMillennials and tradies will be better off at 70 than 70yo boomers are right now, because boomers never developed real skills but still got mad dosh filing paperwork or being in a union factory job. Now we have to develop skills just to stay alive.
>Now make $86k/yr
No you don't. You didn't even name any specifics. You're a shill.
>id
>r9k terd
shut up faggot r9k turd
>do short-term contract work because that's all there is in my 'field'
>boomer asks me when I'm going to get a permanent job
There are no permanent jobs anymore, fuckstick, the best you can do is a few years working for the same place before they backstab you. I hate boomers so much. This guy is even worse because he was a (((civil servant))) and had even fewer problems than his fellow boomers and literally never contributed to taxes, but he thinks because he 'worked' by sitting in his comfy air conditioned office for 40 years he's somehow entitled to take shots at me, who has to work 90 hours a week when on contract because that's all there fucking is.
