As of 2020 there is no cure and to understand why you need to understand that it is a neurological disorder stemming from abnormal pre natal hormones in the womb that basically fuck up the babies brain and make it think it is the wrong sex. Because the sex it thinks it should be does not match what it is, it causes extreme discomfort (gender dysphoria).

Taking hormones alleviates the symptoms of GD similar to how taking insulin alleviates the symptoms of diabetes but like diabetes its not exactly something we can cure at this time. I have been on hormones for 6 years now, my life has dramatically improved, my mental health has never been better, but i will always be a biological male with a feminine body and a fucked up brain.
