Because we settled land that had been mostly uninhabited for all of human history. The Bantu settled the east coast, they couldn't move inland because the didn't have the resources to expand that far, they were cattle grazers, a lot of South Africa is arid and very inhospitable. They didn't have the agricultural technology to expand further than the coast. The Khoisan don't exist any more. You can't show me Bantu habitation of places like Kimberly, Uppington or the Karoo that predates white settlement.

The Bantu had never settled inland in any significant numbers, they were on the east coast for centuries. Then you have the Khoi who were on the west coast who were wiped out as a nation by disease.

Now, try to understand, South Africa is larger than Germany, Poland, Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Austria and Czech Republic combined. South Africa is really, really big. So the Bantus on the east coast were as far away from the west coast they never ever inhabited as Lithuania is from Belgium. It's an insane distance away.
