Then you do your mandatory firearms training (1700$ - 2 years). Then you can apply for a hunting licence (2500$, 3 year wait). You must stay range qualified throughout this process (200$ per month). After that you can apply for a licence, 3000$, 2 year wait. You must send all your documents by registered mail, in triplicate, one written in "aquamarine" ink, along with a dozen photographs (one for each decade of your life). Of course you can never have been divorced, had a criminal record, been accused of any act of violence whatsoever. Also your neighbours must vouch for you. You need four character references, and your wife must be interviewed.

If you have 20,000 rounds, some of which are loaded into a half a dozen drum mags, you can wreck a whole truckload of looters pretty much on demand with not much more tactical risk, should you do it right.
More supply gives you tactical options.
