Not true. I hate them, my family hates them and all.my friends hate them. Never got into trouble for mocking a fat fuck stepping out of line. Most people joined in once they saw someone not giving a fuck.

They're victims in the sense that they're evidence that society needs a degree of engineering in order to maintain an overall physically healthy society.
Most people lose self-control when given abundance. If it means maintaining the stigma of obesity, then so be it. If the stigma isn't enough in the modern age of mass- and processed-food production, then stricter laws should be in place.
ultimately, people and society must maintain the greatest degrees of freedom as possible, but considering health and obesity rates, what we're doing isn't working and is killing all of us in one way or the other.
