Pre-1986 gun ban. We had full auto's back then and very few school shootings and crime. Democrats and neo-con Republicans destroyed society, and that's the root cause of crime.

They have been successful at destroying society so that they can swoop in and offer socialism (including gun bans and 1st amendment restrictions) as the solution to the problems they created in the first place.

Mandatory firearms safety training in K-12, with opt out available.

Capital punishment for any politician who attempts to ban a weapon used by any police agency in the world. SWAT included.

Everything up to automatics and destructive devices with a simple background check
No regulations on barrel lengths or suppressors
Nation wide CC allowed anywhere except private property where owners strictly prohibit
OC only prohibited in major public spaces (mostly to prevent accidents or loss of weapons - ie some dumbass carrying AR into cramped elevator or losing it in mall/amusement park etc)
Autos and DDs allowed with special permit - basically just a competency check and some added security for when/where DDs can be used ( so someone isnt using a grenade to stop a robbery or some dumb shit)
Everything available at 18.

Additionally,
Full rights at 18 - none of this unlocking shit as you get older
Also kick out all non- whites

All guns should be legal to own. The NFA needs to be repealed. I do believe in background checks, but only for crimes like theft, rape, murder, and drug use, and not for crimes related to speech or verbal harassment. Other than that, I believe all Americans should be able to go to a gun store and buy an M16 for $800 or less without any trouble, and that all Americans should have constitutional carry rights regardless of their age.

Handle it about like cars.

Have a 'gun ed' class in highschool, take half a year of gun safety and use (to include marksmanship).

Use that certificate to get a 'gun license' - which is really just a permit to carry concealed or to carry on public property. Certificate would be about as hard to get as most current CCW license. You need your 'gun ed' class to get one prior to being 18.

Private property of course would require no license.

No limit on the type or number or anything of gun you want. Some restrictions for public property carrying would be OK (maybe you should have to have a silencer for example). Private property (and transport) should have no restrictions of course.

Cease production of all Pistols.
Cease production of all Pistol Calibers.
Regulate unpackaged ammunition propellants as Explosives so reloading materials (primers, powder) cant be sold openly.
Redefine a Pistol as any gun with a total overall length less than 24 Inches, regardless of stock or grip configuration. And make Pistols NFA items tantamount to a Machinegun.

...Pistols are subversion and assassination weapons, the first assassination of a noble by firearm was with pistols.
PISTOLS cause the majority of crime deaths, concealability allows gangers to carry them in broad daylight without special clothing.
Pistols are OBSOLETE as military weapons too, ever since SMGs were invented the PDW has become the lightweight replacement for cavalry sidearms.

Unless you're Secret Service or James Bond you've got no business having a PISTOL.

Keep in mind that goes for MILITARY too.
No Pistols in the Military. They get to have a lightweight PDW as a backup weapon that uses the same ammo as their Rifle (sounds like a win-win to me).

Black market handguns will still be around but the Ammo will have to be custom made by cutting down cases of existing rifle ammunition and reusing the powder, which will severely limit the availability of ammo for pistols making most of them paperweights and psychological intimidation (is it loaded or not?) tools for criminals. Itll also cause malfunctions and degrade pistols too.

Regulations could be made about legal firearms that they have to be Gas Operated with a Gas Tube that extends to a certain length of the Barrel. So that it becomes real hard to just cut down a Rifle since you have to do extra gunsmithing to get a pistol sized gun.
