Truth. Evidence of this is the fact that he's been singing the same song for 30 fucking years. People praise his consistency, but consistency on that level is actually indicative of stubbornness and unwillingness to adjust course when things aren't working. He's a lazy idealist with no drive to actually make his plans a reality. His followers are the same way. Instead of actually doing something productive, they're perpetually trapped in the idea stage. They would never want sanders as a vp. If Biden keeled over and died, sanders would become president. DNC wants to avoid that at all costs because he’s a wild card in a way slightly similar to trump. A true derailment to the party and their plans.

There's nothing in the rules preventing that, but it's unlikely due to Bernie not being a part of the DNC cartel (he's an independent). He hasn't racked up any debt so he isn't as beholden to them as career Democrats are. He's therefore harder to control in office. It's also probably unlikely due to Bernie not adding as much appeal as, say, a woman would, or a black woman. The vice president is essentially a way to add voters that the presidential candidate isn't appealing to, e.g. Trump picking Pence to appeal to the Christians (since Trump's a womanizing degenerate and would likely do poorly with them).
