The bottom line is, darknet markets provide a violence-free location to buy and sell black market goods, particularly drugs. Buying drugs on the street is a crap shoot and can be very dangerous due to gang and LEA activity. Buying on the internet removes the gun or the knife from the buy, the only risks are getting scammed but all good markets use an escrow system to avoid the problem.

Cops don't like this. They don't like a safe place to buy drugs because if people stop getting hurt in drug deals, it makes "drug statistics" less scary for their propaganda pieces. That means less "budget funding" to embezzle from.
