Most dogs only become aggressive if they aren’t well socialized and/or are abused when young. Heavy socialization is especially important for working breeds. Having said that, I’d never own a pit bull.

The problem isn't the aggression alone, it's what they can do. An aggressive chihuaha is a nuisance at worst, an aggressive pitbull can kill an adult. And worse, pits are often owned by people who can't control them. A 100-lb woman should not be leading a pitbull around on a leash, because if it feels like it, it can break free in an instant.
