OPs claim is half true but there aren’t very many European facial features at all. Most of the facial features are exaggerated Mayan. There is basically no paint left on any of the ruins so determining skin, eye or hair color is impossible. The carvings are cool, but the sheer size, intricacy and fact that most ruins are still undiscovered or newly discovered is more interesting imo.

For instance, the pyramid of Kukulkan at Chicken Itza. They recently discovered that there are two more pyramids inside the existing putter pyramid. They have no idea how old the innermost pyramid is, but they did bore a hole down to the second pyramid inside. It looks nothing like the outermost structure. It is devoid of art or inscriptions. It doesn't look Mayan at all. They discovered only one artifact inside and it was a well preserved jaguar altar. My point is, many sites in South America were rediscovered and re used.
